I just finished watching Skip and Loafer, which aired this most recent spring season. I'm here to tell you: you should watch it too!

It's a coming of age story about a girl moving from the countryside to Tokyo to go to a better high school. It's full of heart-warming moments as these kids become friends and try to figure out how they should interact with the world.

The characters, story, animation, and sound are all fantastic. The show brings a comforting warmth, with a little drama to keep things interesting. Don't let this show pass you by!

The hype!!! :) I’m so excited :)

I've tried a few eps of Iseleve and while I like the basic premise of two worlds, a down-to-earth nice guy inheriting a legacy, rpg/fantasy elements, etc and harem/ecchi stuff doesn't bother me at all...

The part I can't get into is the overwhelming OP-ness of it. No, I think I'm doing a bad job describing what it is that is bothering me... I have watched and liked plenty of things with OP characters like One Punch Man, Mob Psycho, (old) Bleach and read a fair number of light novels with OP chars like Mushoku Tensei, Everyone Else Is a Returnee (Korean), Stop! - Friendly Fire (Korean), as well as plenty of wuxia/xianxia stuff...

I think what I don't like is that is feels like the MC is literally handed everything and there is no challenge whatsoever; for me it feels a bit like a story-on-rails feeling and I don't feel really connected to any of the characters, as if they are just cookie-cutter templates with no depth or personality.

I think there have been a few anime over the last couple of years with a similar feel (there was one about a Demon King reincarnated at a school or something I can't remember the name... maybe it was this one?) and a few other isekai's.

So for you guys that like this kind of thing - I'm sorry if I'm coming off as a bit negative towards it, I honestly am not trying to shit in your cup of tea - but any insight into the appeal would be appreciated.

I've been keeping up with the manga, it's dumb fun. Happy to see it has an anime this season.

And it's getting a dub! The dumb manga with the rabbit girl who dresses like a playboy bunny and really likes the protagonist's carrots is getting a dub. What world do we live in?

Great concept, poor execution.

Everything that relates to the production value of this movie is subpar: the voice acting, the sound design, the animation... There's nothing excellent here, there's really nothing good here.

The voice acting sounds awkward at times. Japanese voice acting is known for being great, but here nearly every line feels emotionless, and the main characters sound like they're whispering very loudly instead of just talking. Which is something I can only assume is an artistic choice? I suppose it fits the theme of the movie but it sounds bad. Notably, Anzai Chika's performance as Kobayashi was actually pretty great.

The music and sound design on this thing is also not great. It sounds so quiet, so empty. Once again, this must have been by design, as it fits the theme, but it sucks! It makes the whole movie feel bland and faceless. Just because it's about a secret and escaping others doesn't mean the movie should be empty.

The animation is somewhat decent. It's not a very distinct style, and some frames look horrible. There's also some scenes with 3D animation that are very not good. Still, for the most part it's OK.

Still, this is definitely not a bad movie. It's a very interesting concept. Personally, I love time-related movies (like Tenet and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time), and the idea of being able to stop time for a short duration is cool.

The relationship between the two main characters is also great, and very engaging. Murakami's whole personality, or lack thereof, really made me think... I wonder if there really are people that act this way. Personally, I related to Moritani WAY more, feeling overwhelmed and just wanting to run away. Murakami's whole ordeal felt very odd to me, but it was still very emotionally compelling. I think it was conveyed in a very nice way.

The conclusion was a bit underwhelming though, probably as a consequence of this running for only 1 hour. Still, it didn't leave a sour taste in my mouth or anything, I just wish there was more to the story. I suppose that's actually a compliment to the plot, in a way.

I'm curious to know how many of you attend anime conventions and what your experiences have been like.

I've been to Anime North over here in Toronto. I first started going around a decade ago and haven't missed the convention since then (except when it was cancelled for COVID). I normally just wander around the Vendors Hall and look at all the figurines that will break my wallet if I were to buy them.

Recently I started visiting panels which I generally have avoided in the past. You'll get some good panels that are fun, but you'll also get some absolutely awfully-run panels that makes you question how they even got to host those panels.

Any other fans of this in here? It seems to have a passionate following of the people that have heard of it before. I went into it blind due to good ratings on MAL and lived it right away.

It follows an ex soldier and an indigenous girl in Hokkaido. They're after a lost fortune in gold, and they only clues are contained in the mysterious tattoos of a group of escaped killers.

Also after the treasure is a rogue group of soldiers and a band of martial artists, along with some of the other killers, mob bosses, and others.

You get to learn a lot of week researched facts about the native people and their customs, history of Hokkaido and Sakhalin. And to lighten the mood, there are a ton of if gags, slapstick, sex and toilet humor, whacky versions of historical figures, and some occasional random sexy/funny male fan service. It has it all!

And fear not! The manga is complete and the last season of anime which has been simul-dubbed is in production of the final season, so it's ready for anyone to dive in.

Just wanted to post this. One of my favorite mahwhas getting anime adaptation ! you can read the manga on tappytoons and tapas currently i believe.
