CEO Marek Tyminski was present during the investor call, and later chimed in on Xitter to echo Hill's points and spread the word to CI Games's audience of (in Hill's phrase) "core and adjacent" players. In that tweet, he gives a clunky #shoutout to 2023's Lords Of The Fallen - a huge success for CI that has been savaged for its extensive launch bugs, and which is now being positioned for a "2.0" redemption. In confirmation that "anti-DEI" is now a CI Games PR campaign, Tyminski is also now openly toying with updating Lord Of The Fallen's character model labelling to suit transphobic, "anti-woke" ideas about gender.

These hawkish daydreams lend themselves easily, even inadvertently to active prejudice. Back in 2021, CI were obliged to apologise after throwing a preview event in which journalists were invited to shoot at people dressed as Arab stereotypes. In their apology, CI Games claim they weren't "directly" involved in the event and that as such, "certain decisions were overlooked". A DEI consultant might have helped them spot all that in advance.

The argument that games with "social or political agendas" are a risk commercially, meanwhile, echoes the reactionary claim that there isn't really an audience for games that express leftwing positions of any kind. I'm interested to see Hill put some actual figures behind that, because the comments thread battlecry "go woke, go broke" doesn't stand up to casual analysis.

Just look at Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 - "the biggest Call Of Duty ever", according to its creators, despite being the first Call Of Duty to feature a non-binary character, whose voice actor has had to deal with transphobic harassment. God Of War: Ragnarök, meanwhile, is a flawed deconstruction of patriarchy that features input from the narrative consultancy Sweet Baby Inc - a popular boogeyman for the DEI Detectors - and has still managed to sell tens of millions of copies. Fortnite hosts an annual pride event, amongst other "woke" initiatives, and remains one of the most-played games in history.

I was looking at exploring a new career and this looks like a fun opportunity to dip my toe into accounting.

Anyone familiar with it? Thank you.

Pretty cool!

Do you avoid bars? I tell this to a lot of folks. Bartenders do appreciate non-alcoholics. If you're the designated driver (DD) or not drinking because of health reasons, hopefully you don't feel like a pariah.

I work behind the bar and i love the non-drinkers. May it be a glass of water, a soda, or a mocktail, doesn't matter to me!

I also finally convinced my restaurant to make mocktails on the menu. A lot of bartenders may know how to as well. Ask!

Now if you avoid bars because of the loud TVs, absolutely understandable. Sorry about that.

Absolutely disgusting

In Portland, Oregon, Three Sisters Nixtamal sells fresh masa and tortillas locally and ships hominy, corn, and DIY nixtamalization kits nationally.

The tiny town of Antelope – population 37 – has become the first city in Oregon to receive a “Dark Sky Community” certification from DarkSky International.

Located in rural Wasco County in the north central part of the state, the town’s unofficial motto is, “Where you can see the Milky Way from Main Street.”

Posted in Oregon because of how many folks we served during the Pandemic.

Idaho already bans almost all forms of abortion. In 2023, Idaho became the first state to create a new crime of “abortion trafficking,” which seeks to prevent people from helping minors obtain abortions in neighboring states where the procedure remains legal. Since then, lawmakers in at least five other states have introduced copycat bills. Tennessee enacted its own “abortion trafficking” ban earlier this year. Abortion rights advocates have also sued to block that ban. A federal judge has temporarily blocked the state from enforcing the law while the issue is litigated.

Understandable. Staff is overworked and not supported, and the "clients" aren't exactly receptive to help.

Police won't solve the problem because a few years ago, they chose a stance of abandoning downtown. Then again, all they did was arrest the addict and let them go later, sometimes even roughing them up.

In the past month, I've seen a significant uptick on plainclothes workers helping addicts clean up.

You lumped a huge percentage of people as putting their fingers in their ears.

Maga is going to vote maga. And there's a huge chunk that didn't vote or were surprised Biden dropped out. Those folks didn't put their fingers in their ears. Like Bernie said, they were ignored.

That's my take.

Bro I was alive during Rodney King riots.

Doesn't mean my opinion is more valid than someone actually there.

Probably because he's offering them a solution to there problems, deport the immigrants and bring manufacturing back. His plan is dumb and won't work but at least he's putting something forward unlike Harris who says everything will stay the same.

This is exactly what I was pointing out to my friends. Every one of us are making six figures, and could not understand why anybody would vote Trump.

And I asked them how many people in their lives are poor, living paycheck to paycheck. I have family members who are working two or three jobs to get by. All the work Biden did is not being seen or recognized by them.

Are they are under-educated yokels? Are they morons for not keeping up with politics? You can call them what ever you want. Theyre still a voter.

Face it: what they're hearing from Democrats vs what they're hearing from Trump are pretty clear cut and we can stay in this echo chamber all we want on Lemmy. Those folks aren't listening to us. They're just trying to survive and will vote accordingly.

If you're where I'm at, the homeless are actively vandalizing apartment complexes owned by real estate giants.

This was actually my life a few years ago.

I was hardening our applications to stop scraping and automation bots.

Then contributing to open-source to have better scraping and automation.

I wasn't purposely creating loop holes or anything because that's highly illegal. It's about making sure both sides "play nice", because the automation bots are frequently used by spammers/evildoers.
