This reasoning doesn't make sense unless Trump loses. How can sentencing the POTUS be any less fraught than sentencing a candidate? The judge is a coward with at least two rulings in his back pocket depending on the outcome of the election.

I left when every other video was about the personal lives of Linus or his staff. I know that developing the parasocial is important to any channel, but it turns me off.

I read once that Holocaust research causes three distinct traumas. One is where you realize that it really happened to real people. Two is when you empathize with the victims and can visualize yourself of loved ones in that position. Three is when you empathize with the perpetrators and can visualize yourself or loved ones in that position.

It's natural for children to believe that good people do good things and bad do bad, but that opinion can't survive into adulthood without profound lack of self awareness.

This isn't about "stolen valor". The candidate was a Seal. He just wrote a book about it without asking the pentagon "mother may I" first.

This is silly. Do you really think censoring shooter's names is going to do jack shit? Name the parkland shooter, or the Walmart shooter in Texas. I bet you can't. I know the average American can't.

This is an attractive idea because it gives us agency to punish these people somehow. We see them get wall-to-wall media coverage and incorrectly assume that's the motivation because it's hard to imagine shooting kids for any reason and the media coverage is the most available effect to us.

If that's not convincing, then just know that Tucker Carlson agrees with you.

yesman: please write a short response to this article in the voice of a libertarian

GPT: sure, I'll be happy to do that:

Just another case of power hungry government trying to tell citizens what they're allowed to do with their own body. They killed a whole industry just because one guy had a side-effect.

You know, it's perfectly OK to group voters by identity, so long as that identity cannot exclude "Normal" people. Soccer Mom, Six pack Dad, Middle class, working poor, labor, Small Business owner, Rural, Urban, and Suburban are all perfectly fine to promise these groups political power. But you do the exact same thing for queer people or black people and that's identity politics all of a sudden.

The idea of a political center is a reification of the spectrum political model. These people aren't centrists because they've formed a ideology, they're centrists because they accept convention like an RPG player who takes the default hero and skips character creation.

Ever notice how apologists for Zionism are all terrified at what would happen if Palestinians had authority and power because they assume Palestinians will be as brutal and criminal as the Zionists?

What if they caused Israelis to become refugees? What if they did terror attacks to convince Israelis to leave? What if they passed racist laws that discriminated where a Jew could work, live, and move? Maybe they'll subjugate Israel's people to military justice and deny them rights and citizenship?

Yea, all of that would be horrible and fucking wrong and I would support an embargo on weapons to this hypothetical Palestinian government.

currently claim to be libertarian are actually extremely socially conservative

(in America) 90% of libertarians are Republicans who smoke weed and skip church. The other ten percent are lunatics who actually want a limited government with strong personal freedoms (for the powerful) because they believe they'll be the lords in the new feudalism.

The two big brands are malignant monopolies that nobody likes? That's exactly how free market capitalism works.
