The open internet that would easily feature this information WAS destroyed years ago. And yes there are all kinds of content moderation standards in libraries too

Ah yes the internet, the place that's completely open and has no content moderation whatsoever. Unless you're adept at tor and dark web it is an arduous process to find that info, especially compared to how easy a chatbot would make it
Imagine if they encased this light beam in some kind of fiber encasing so it retain it benefits but not worry about getting blocked. We could even call it a fiber optic cable or something
I agree with you in principle but that's what they did with eternals and that also sucked
Whether you like it or not, this is what peak performance looks like
Is this an ad? Good news everyone we're becoming more like Reddit every day!
We always look for extended stay hotels for this reason, especially when traveling with my parents who would much rather heat up a home cooked meal vs fast food when traveling. Usually we can get 1 room instead of 2 since a lot of time the rooms are suites so my wife and I can take the sofa bed.
Really enjoying all the cat content on lemmy. Any good cat instances to subscribe to?
The thing is we are undergoing one of the most exponential acceleration of technology and society that we have ever experienced as a species by many metrics (even tho many will say we are living in the worst time ever, by other metrics). The last decade corporations threw a shitton of money at seemingly impractical and impossible ideas. Convince strangers to get in other strangers cars to replace taxis and limos? No problem you've just created a whole new "profitable" sector that redefined society all over the world. Create 10 separate Netflix's spending billions of dollars you shouldn't have, ruining your best IP thru oversaturation , and it failed? Everyone should have known this hurr durr. As dumb as the Hyperloop always has been and still is, I do get why so much money and hype went into it during a decade where the impossible and impractical routinely became commonplace
I could see one that focused on CDC / nih data and communications. I use clinicaltrials.gov all the time for work to look at study designs for big clinical trials, could be cool to have an instance that covered info from there. I could see another one maybe for weather and traffic related data from NOAA, state highway authorities, etc. maybe another space related one for NASA and space force (lol). Others for the military branches, it goes on and on. The government has social media accounts for most of these services already, could give the fediverse a big boost if their content is directly hosted on government servers
Well wanting to secede is kind of the whole basis of the USA. these "patriots" have convinced themselves they're the real Americans and everyone else is wrong, so they're trying to follow order 1776
