Looks like that was my problem. Everything working fine now.

Thanks!

Using Firefox, and the website isn't working for me either.

I don't really think votes mean anything when the community is still small. There tends to be so few comments, you can actually read all of them.

The problem starts in the hundreds of comments. I'm not going to spend an hour reading one comment thread. If a post explodes in popularity your voice is just a drop in a Olympic sized pool, there is a good chance it won't be seen by another soul.

Once a post hits this kind of criticality, voting is the only way your opinion starts having weight in the discussion. Most communities I use are still small, so either decision will have little impact on me.

I still occasionally lurk on reddit, just a few obscure subs like r/fedora. Lemmy is the first social platform I've actually commented on.

Honestly I wasn't to interested in the whole "movement" against the API changes. Being a nerd, the underlying tech behind activitypub is what got me interested.

This site is a bit more extensive.

I used it for about one year on my media pc (bedroom tv computer for web browsing and watching videos)

Only problem I had was my gnome theme got messed up after an update. Using the reset to defaults in tweaks fixed it.

The shipped software for switching Kernels was nice. Never did notice any change in stability going from LTS to latest though.

I know that feel. Go to any forum for a distro and there will be people writing glowing reviews about how this OS solved my distro hopping. The next one will say the previous was trash!

I went with Fedora for my gaming desktop and I think the only controllers supported out of the box were direct input controllers. Personally I have a Xbox series x controller and wireless dongle. By default the dongle is used as a wifi adapter which kind of took me by surprise.

To get the controller working, I had to install the Xone kernal module from git. After that everything worked fine. Steam, Lutris and yuzu. Once you get a controller working on the system it pretty much works for any app that uses controller input.

Distributions can have a big impact on the effort and knowledge you need to get things working. For example Nobara flat out asks if you want to install xbox controller support.
