Honestly? Because most of the country isn't ready for a true progressive candidate. Run someone middle of the road and the conservatives (or moderate leaning right) who aren't stupid will possibly go across the party line and vote for them, they run someone too progressive and those folks either don't show up at all or vote trump because it's "better than the crazy commie".

I really disagree with the idea of 2 extreme candidates from either side anyways. Ranked choice is what we need.

The obvious answer is ranked voting. But that's another discussion

I'm just worried that we'll have a repeat of voter apathy because the Dems present a really not great candidate again and folks don't show up and allow the dangerous nut jobs elect in their wannabe dictator.

That said, I 100% agree that folks should be pushing and demanding better from our elected officials so keep voicing and pushing your concerns!

Still rather vote for him than the wanna be dictator. It's shitty, and who knows maybe the Dems will primary someone decent.

But if the choice is "generally shitty typical politician who isn't actively telling us how he's going to destroy our country" vs "I'm going to destroy our country and prosecute my enemies illegally and rip out long term federal employees and replace them with folks loyal to me who will let me be a dictator, and btw I'm saying this out loud all the time"......

It's still not a hard choice to vote for a fucking wet paper bag over trump , even a wet paper bag who is not doing the best job and is supporting questionable international policies.

Please remember they're not the same type of bad. One is run of the mill politician bad, one is literally telling us how he plans on ripping our country's founding principles to shreds.

That's not true at all. Following an unlawful order is illegal and not a valid excuse.

The officer oath is to support the and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.

Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (aka disobeying a direct order) spells out that it only applies to lawful orders.

Anything illegal is non binding, and stating you're following an order is not an excuse. That's literally one of the rules of the Geneva convention.

All that to say, not at all true. What I really would expect if Trump tried pulling this off with the military is a huge amount of resistance and pushback and no one in command really following the illegal orders.

There might be some schism group of crazies who try and jump the chain of command because they're MAGA crazies in the military, but it's definitely a small minority.

The US Military is a volunteer force, the officer corps has been taught and studied the history of these type of bad orders and crazy situations extensively. The NCO corps and rest of the enlisted are not ignorant bumpkins who are ignorant of their jobs and their duty to the constitution.

I know there are online stores that specialize in laser blanks and supplies but it seemed they were all targeted for bulk commercial customers, not hobbyists like me. Amazon is where I get most of my stuff.

For the backlit mirrors I just use shadow box frames from Michaels or Hobby lobby, then throw my own RGB led strips behind the glass. When those big box stores have sales you can get the frames cheap. Honestly the most expensive part was the led strips, and you can find them on Alibaba pretty cheap.

The 12"x12" frames perfectly fit the 12"x12" mirrors I get on amazon

I think it's time for a change, no hate on Pete, but we can't keep going the same way we are. Sure hope we get someone good

Joey has been a beast. That shut out at home seemed to really get him in the groove.

Still really hoping Gru gets healthy because having a duo of solid reliable goalies is a game changer. But also gotta give credit that the rest of our D game has been way more together.

Really just hoping we can keep the momentum going, we're looking more like the team from the end of last year finally. Really want them to make the playoffs again.

She's an adult at the center of performing arts, not a teenager in the back row of a dollar theater. Different standards apply to those 2 situations.

Great read! Very interesting.

I still think it was silly to have reintroduction of wolves up to a popular vote instead of leaving it up to the professionals. But it happened, I'm curious to see how far their range goes, the ones in WA go all over.

This whole thing doesn't feel right.

Retailers are seeing declining sales due to economic conditions. They are seeing increases in Shrink, but not providing (or capable of providing) specific numbers related to theft.

The whole industry is rallying that their drops in earnings is due to theft, they lobby for new legislation "punishing organized retail theft", and then claim that location closures is due to theft... Only to keep places with higher crime rates open.

This whole thing reads as though they're losing money and are making up bullshit to keep their stock valuation high. Which is what most CEO compensation is based off of.

I don't necessarily disbelieve theft is increasing. I just think if it was the main cause of loss, then they would implement new controls at their level instead of trying to lobby for stricter punishment, in my simple mind having more cashiers be people and more employees would drastically reduce theft, and they must have done the math that it's cheaper to just lose stuff instead.

Kind of hard to feel bad for them
