I agree to survival of the fittest. I don't think it's a Lemmy problem. Anyone was able to create any subs on Reddit, "gaming", "true_gaming", "games". Eventually they either find their community/theme or die out.

I just subscribe to every community that I like, even if they are about the same theme.

When searching for a community, I just subscribe to the most subscribed.

Trying out these apps is actually fun. Takes me back to the days I was searching for the perfect Reddit app in c/apple_enthusiast
