I may switch over to fedora, I needed something non-debian with XFCE.

That's unfortunately just how the internet is/works. It's all links and links to each other. Check out https://archive.is and https://archive.ph - Maybe we can build a decentralized archive thing based on IPFS or something

Absolutely not our problem. They can come up with other business models. Maybe they can resurrect one of the hundreds of projects/business models from them at https://killedbygoogle.com/ and run with that

Nice. I switched from Manjaro KDE to Manjaro XFCE. Check out Tilda - it's a drop down Quake style terminal, I use ctrl + ~ https://micg.net/the-way-it-should-be-manjaro-xfce-the-lightweight-linux-desktop/

I suggest Manjaro. Debian's always 5 versions behind, and Ubuntu's 'selling security' - Fedora's good though.

Not our problem. They can go the twitch.tv'ish way and add subscription models for people to subscribe and support their favorite content producers and Youtube can take a cut.

Just because they can't think of a profitable business model other than annoying and exploiting the internet's userbase while deplatforming, demonetizing and having their own myriad of problems doesn't mean that's on us.

Doesn't mean you're simping. You have a valid point, but when's enough enough when they're squeezing everything out of us for ad revenue and finding new ways to fuck with our psyche/psychological things like Facebook does with its highest paid employee(s) to rake in attention for cost-per-click and cost-per-view? We're more than just 'metrics' and KPIS. We're humans, we deserve joy. If youtube dies, there's decentralized solutions out there that can become more mainstream. People can self-host and host their own content.

Agreed. It's a form of cyber terrorism and needs to have an end put to it.

Identify them then seize all of their assets IMO.

After all the price gouging gains and PPP loans going to lining the pockets of owners buying themselves ferraris, let's up it to 85%. They'll manage. Since corporations are people, they can just pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

Not our problem.

And dancing desktop buddies with 350 tray icons.

Honestly, I'm so sick of Microsoft's bullshit, I just want to spread to love of Linux desktop. They're more than free to downvote me in to oblivion. I'm pro-freedom over the software, open source software, and freedom to use the hardware we want to use. Plus I really love Manjaro and XFCE. KDE's a good experience, but Windows 11 has advertisements in its start menu, and I'm not entirely sure what that 'screenshot your desktop to feed an AI' stuff was about but I'm not really down with that.

So, don't thank me, but I would hope more people enjoy the different flavors of Linux desktop or give them a chance. The only way to not have Microsoft jam its software/cloud services/Teams down your throat is to get the HIPAA related Windows 11 OS which they make it a pain in the butt to grab.
