definitely agree. and anyways, there are things more beneficial to queer people than bourgeois concessions that are paraded in the west such as the right to serve in the military (the fact that this was even a right liberals fought for is BEYOND me. so idiotic). stuff like free healthcare, free housing, labor protections are all way more important than the white house doing a pride event or whatever western nations show off as "progressive".

bourgeois western nations will attack countries like palestine for not having the same level of these mundane concessions, but it's pure hypocrisy anyways because these western nations actually do very little for queer people, and in the case of the united states, actively seek out to genocide trans people.

i read the original book where i think he came up with the theory (food of the gods) and while there were some interesting questions and thoughts, it was overall a pretty laughable and stupid book. zero evidence, just hypotheticals stated as factual reality. and i say this being extremely pro-psychedelic. we can have discussions about the benefit and importance about them without including weird pseudoscience. the book was also poorly written, mckenna frequently goes on tangents mid-chapter. he's got cool quotes i guess, but he's hard to take seriously for me.

its a mere product of the lack of quality scientific education in capitalist countries, as are most conspiracy theories. nobody understands what a vapor trail is, so it must be planes releasing a mind-control gas into the atmosphere or something.

these conspiracy theories are often woven together under larger unifying ones (new world order, Qanon/deepstate, etc), and this one is part of the NWO thing where the chemtrails are allegedly part of the effort to drug humanity into submission, along with like fluoride toothpaste and aspartame and vaccines. again, it's all just severe lack of scientific literacy, usually because of substandard capitalist education in the united states and europe.

its just ultras being blinded by idealism. the road to socialism must adhere exactly to their idealistic, squeaky-clean plan and anything less is stalinist authoritarian dictatorship genocide or whatever. material conditions be damned, the path is prescribed to be one way and it must be followed. its a critically poor understanding of dialectical materialism.

hippies are an annoying side effect of the american "new left" of the 60s. a revival of leftism, sure, but not one that was too effective or theory-based at all. the entire thing was kinda centered around the vietnam war, which was a fantastic mobilizer for the years that it was happening, but once the united states was defeated in vietnam and pulled out and the war ended, all the hippies stopped caring and settled down while they gave birth to one of the most wretched groups, the yuppies. the hippies were basically like the first iteration of the "calls themself a leftist but still buys some CIA propaganda" type you see all too often nowadays. america was bad, sure, but the soviet union was JUST as bad. lets just have world peace and everyone in harmony, man. there were of course active radical marxist-leninists, and not to mention the incredible black panther party, but i think they were kinda overshadowed in general by the "new left" hippies who were so high on CIA LSD that they didn't really do much in the country aside from protest the war that was already on its way out thanks to the brave soldiers of the NVA.

nowadays, you can find hippies living in million-dollar homes in cities that were once cool and radical and are now just havens for the rich (think san francisco), living out all the ideals that they "rebelled against" in the 60s and posting 5G covid conspiracy theories online.
