I remember showing up to my first class thinking it would basically be "stoner studies" and then being given a complicated lecture on formal logic. There was an American student at the front of the class who exclaimed at one point, "Wow! It's just like simple computer programming." I remember thinking I was in the wrong room lol.

Anyway I stuck with it and now I'm a computer programmer.

This Baillie Gifford controversy is nuts. They are one of the largest investment companies in terms of backing renewable energies and they invest way fewer funds than their competitors in fossil fuels.

Arts festivals like the Edinburgh Book Festival have been browbeaten by these grandstanding authors into removing them as a sponsor but the only repercussions we're going to see is the event being reduced in scale in coming years. The government is not going to step in and take their place and there's no viable alternative source of money other than the private sector.

Yes this is pretty much my take. The technology could be really useful for something dull like ERP systems where you need to keep track of stock across global supply chains but NFTs are not a good use of them.

It depends where you study but if you end up at an institution which follows the analytic tradition then many of your classes will be more like discrete mathematics than a typical humanities degree.

Honestly doing a philosophy degree hoping for existentialism it was more like:

"Best I can do is Wittgenstein truth tables and quantifier predicate logic"

Unwatchable copaganda /s

I honestly enjoyed this movie. It was like Hideo Kojima made a feature length film. The references to classics like Metropolis were satisfying and the actors all chewing the scenery was fun.

Also loved Coppola creating his own letterboxd account to rate the film 5 stars!

I'm not convinced by your approach but I respect that you've put a lot of thought into it. I guess my main issue is that it seems some parents don't think about it at all.

People need to understand that the internet is a public space. Family PCs should be in a shared space like the living room and kids need to have parental controls enabled on their smart phone. Beyond that, yeah people need to get thicker skins when it comes to social media (including steam in this).

I believe the Switch version does not require an online account either.

I also quite enjoyed Warrior Within but then again I liked Jak 2 as well. I wonder what happened in that "Shadow the Hedgehog" era to make all these good mascots go bad...
