I know some who have managed to hold down successful careers despite their habit. I wonder how many hidden "functional" users there are

Someone got fired making an “inspirational” Andrew Tate inspired speech on slack about how depression doesn’t actually exist. This was on a company wide channel about promoting/raising awareness for mental health issues. Two comments prior someone had described in heartbreaking detail how their stepchild had committed suicide last year.

The phrase "absolutely decimated" annoys me since to decimate has a really exact definition of shedding 10% of something

I have some empathy I remember posting on /r/drugs when I was 16 too...

Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is probably what I'll remember her best for

Man you had a lot more effort to dedicate to this guy than me lol

I wonder when he'll realise that everyone he's been rude to was basically agreeing with him

I thought her husband took a lot of the credit at the time. Might be mistaken about that though.

I like any of the Nujabes albums. He makes chilled, mainly instrumental, hip hop music.

Could also add Marie Curie in there. I didn’t realise until recently that there is a lot of controversy over France “claiming her achievements” since she was born and educated in Poland.

Have enjoyed memes pointing out that a character who is a diddler named Diddy could have been written by Hideo Kojima.

This is spectator so they are taking the most extreme right wing viewpoint on Labour's recent policies to improve the nation's health. I disagree with how they characterise it for the most part but they do seem to put their finger on the kind of authoritarian impulses inside the party. Definitely think the author misses the mark with their badly thought out/unsupported angle about it being patronising class politics.

I was too young to take in much when John Major was in power but remember New Labour with Blair/Brown very well. They were also keen to make similar kind of policies that were - for lack of a better phrase - nanny state-ish. I found it interesting thinking about that legacy.

Should also mention that both parties tend towards these types of policies. I suspect the civil service are keen on them and they test well in focus groups.

Article is paywalled so will post it in comments.

If Digital Underground were able to make more consistent albums then they'd be my favourite group ever. The best tracks are unreal but then the skits, etc. drag the whole thing down on repeated listens.

This could have major repercussions for the game as we know it. The RFU has already reduced the amount of contact allowed in the grassroots of the game. Will the product we all love survive a legal tsunami if this ends in a court ruling?

I always wonder if you could get players to sign away their rights to sue but I'm pretty certain that would not be legally enforceable, alongside being totally exploitative.

Old but gold.

I find The National frequently embarassing as a Scottish person. Enjoying seeing them squirm here.

This is upsetting to see. I've got a friend with MS and I hope she is not prevented from claiming assistance if (or when) she needs it due to this case causing more stringent checks on claimants.

At least this lady got the jail.

I think Wes might be right here but this is going to cause consternation amongst groups who were hoping that Labour might take a more liberal approach to LGBT issues than the tories.

SMTV:V Hype Thread (self.megaten)

My copy is arriving on Saturday - it seems that the days of ordering on Amazon and occasionally getting games a day early has passed.

I was a fan of the base game and I don't think the story was as bad as some people made it out to be. However I am excited for the new story that they are promising with the Vengeance route. Getting hyped up seeing the positive reviews coming through!

I have been replaying SMTIV:A this week in the run up to the release to keep me occupied. Had taken a detour into the Devil Survivor series most recently so it has been nice returning to the mainline gameplay.

What are you all thinking about the release this week? Any hopes for the new title? Fears?
