No question yet, but I love how there’s a weekly thread for this!

Huh. I wonder what they mean by “bad user UX”. I was expecting concerns about encryption or privacy, not UX. I already use Signal, so it would be a positive for me if they federate.

Right? Loudness wars haven’t stopped since the 90s. I always wear concert earplugs whenever I attend live shows.

How are these companies able to operate in broad daylight in the EU of all places? I mean the name itself is saying out loud what they do.

I was gonna say this as well. You can go 2 opposite directions. You can go for a country like Switzerland which has a lot of privacy rules in place. It generally protects you from malicious non-state actors. But you can also go the other way with a developing country whose government does not have the means or capability to monitor you. The tradeoff is your data on government systems is probably already compromised, just not by the government itself.

I think the part about knowing how to follow instructions is pretty much true though, at least for me. I only started cooking by myself in my mid-20s. I started by just searching a recipe and adding “simple” in my search query so I get something I can realistically make with what I have in the kitchen/pantry. Then I just follow it to the letter. Through repeated trial and error I eventually learned what could be done faster or easier, what ingredients can be substituted, etc.

I hate that they have the best cash back credit card right now according to nerdwallet. I want to get a new credit card as a backup but I really want to avoid wells fargo.

If I’m reading the article correctly, the ingredient is supposed to be used for boat fuel, so even the ocean isn’t safe.

Watch a movie on the in-flight entertainment. I can never finish a movie on a plane. No matter what I do, I fall asleep. If I don’t watch anything, I can’t sleep.

We're making tteokbokki tonight. Gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, and dashi boiled with some water. Then mix in an assortment of fishballs and squidballs. Then finally mix in rice cakes. We put the rice cakes in last because we prefer the thin round ones and they cook pretty fast. Lastly, we top it off with melted mozzarella cheese. It also helps with neutralizing the spiciness a bit. lol
