Ich hab gestern alles mit redact überschrieben. Heute ist ne Menge wieder da. Ich kann aber nicht ausschließen, dass sie von der API gestern nicht gegriffen wurden, da manche subs noch dark waren. Es scheint, zumindest bei mir, sehr sub abhängig zu sein, was "zurück" ist.

One thing that I feel is missing a lot in the whole discussion is, I don't NEED reddit. Or any other platform. The whole discussion, especially from reddits POV feels like, "you need to accept this and that and move on". Truth is, I don't need to do anything. I'm using reddit for fun (and sometimes to find solutions to problems). If I don't enjoy what they have done to the place, I just can go. Maybe somewhere else, maybe this part of my online activity is done for now, who know. But I think reddit vastly overestimates its usefulness in my daily life. I can always go back to reading shampoo bottles on the toilet!

Wir sehen hier natürlich die Parallelen zu Twitter, wo Alternativen wie Mastodon im Raum standen, was aber auch nicht wirklich funktioniert hat.

Großer Unterschied: Auf Twitter folg(t)e ich Usern. Auf reddit Themen. Nehmt es mir nicht böse, liebe /r/de User, bis auf wenige Ausnahmen würde ich keinen Namen wiedererkennen und nicht merken, wer kommt oder wer geht. Und das gilt für 99% der User in 99% meiner subs. Und genauso wird andersrum niemand merken, dass ich fehle.

Solange es alternative Orte für ein Thema gibt, die gut genug gefüllt und besucht sind, brauche ich kein reddit. Ob die Alternative nun am Ende lemmy oder Foren oder wasauchimmer sein wird, wird sich zeigen.

Wahrscheinlich eine gesunde Einstellung. Zumal wahrscheinlich der grat zwischen strafrechtlich relevante und "ich persönlich finde es falsch" hier Recht schmal sein dürfte. Sprich, ich hab meine persönliche Meinung über das ganze row 0 und Groupie Ding, aber bin mir bewusst, dass diese sich nicht mit der Meinung jedes anderen deckt. Solange alle Beteiligten alles freiwillig machen kann ich es iiikk finden wie ich will, er ist rechtlich im grünen. Und sollte es eben nicht so freiwillig sein wie von Lindemann behauptet, werden die Gerichte sich kümmern.

Sadly, my simracing replacements are the weakest link in my switch away from reddit. Since I race mostly Iracing, I've changed to their forum. Great for technical discussions about the new updates etc.

For updates on the rest, I use the german speaking discord from https://www.germansimracing.de, just to get news about big updates etc.

It's totally different from the subs I used - but to be honest... I don't really miss the 500th question about "what wheel should I buy" or "who's at fault". Since this switch from reddit came at the same time as my switch from VR to monitor (and therefore making a quick session easier to set up) I rather drive a couple of laps when I have to kill 15 or 20 minutes, instead of reading about it.

Yeah I think this behavior is my breaking point. Going from "I just don't log in anymore" the last few days to "I'll get home today, nuke my account and overwrite everything". I'm done.

Selbst wenn der Akku groß genug ist wäre es trotzdem schöner, sich darüber erst gar keine Gedanken machen zu müssen.

Na ja, in der Praxis ist es eigentlich schon so weit. Selbst mein "billo" E-Auto mit 300 km Reichweite - wenn ich die Gegend kenne und das Lader kommen knall’ ich auch auf <5 % SOC runter, das sind dann noch so 15 km bevor man nervös werden muss. Kenn’ ich die Gegend nicht, lasse ich das Auto bzw. das Handy bei so 15 % suchen. Und im Winter plan ich einfach mit ein paar km weniger Reichweite.

Im Alltag hab ich mehr Handyakku anxiety als im Auto ;-)

I think Reddit has in some parts already lost this fight. For one of my hobbies, simracing, I used a couple of subreddits to stay informed. Honestly, looking back, it was a mile wide but an inch deep. Basically the same 4 topics on rotation. It became stale months ago. Now, I haven't found a good Lemmy community for this. But forums. And it is night and day how much more in depth the discussion is there. Whatever reddit does, I won't come back. The last week has encouraged me to look for alternative content and I found better stuff. Sure, this is most likely different for other interests. But I can't be the only one that found alternatives to Reddit that he prefers, even ignoring API or blackout etc.
