I was on reddit a while and didn't make much friends on the platform until they introduced the chat feature. After that, I found a few by sometimes messaging people further questions on what they posted.

Alternatively there are some very active discord servers for trans and LGBT people if you Google for them. Egg_irl has the valley, there is also Transpeak and Trans Community Center.
Well, that's not entirely true at least on lemmy.world. On the web version there's the infinite spam of content that happens when you sort by Hot or Top Day that will just eventually crash your browser, whereas on the app that doesn't happen.
I'm not the OP, but out of Jerboa, Connect, and LiftOff I like LiftOff the most so far. Jerboa would be higher up if it worked more.
I'm getting this issue when adding one for the first time too, might have to go directly via the URL but from your instance (copy how other ones look maybe)
I tend to just buy something from my local supermarket and it does the trick for me, at least for a few years.
