I went the ratgdo route and it has been flawless so far. Integrated nicely with Home Assistant and was able to tap into the opener's existing limit switches for a decently clean install.

It is great that everything operates as before, but now I can see the door status and operate it remotely along with all the other tricks being tied in with the home automation system, such as alerts when left open at night or triggering interior lights when returning home while dark.

Most likely with an impact that severe, the passengers were either killed or incapacitated on impact, especially giving the fact none of the others were noticed trying to escape when the bystander broke out a window.

The front doors do have easily accessible manual releases on all of the models.

That being said, for the ones 'equipped' with the emergency feature for the rear, it is a manual release cable buried under the speaker grill, which is something very few passengers would know about in the first place, much less have the presence of mind or physical capability to remove the speaker grill and find/pull the cable.

Will be interesting to see the an update to this map in about 2-3 years for comparison.

They might manage to knock gas prices down a few tens of cents in the short term as they "drill baby, drill", but agreed everything else is going to go up, and of course, we get extra screwed in the long term.

Sadly, a few protests now is nothing in comparison if Harris would have won. The Republican party already had preemptive lawsuits to challenge the election results before election day and the results would have been contended for months. There was a high likelihood of a repeat of Jan. 6th 2021 on Jan. 6th 2025 from right wing milita groups.

They've been staples around the PDX airport for the last year or so. There is also Caesar the "no drama llama" who has been around the general Portland area for a number of years.

Always fun to run across.

Forget about Jan. 6th 2021 already? I don't recall any legal authority there and yet it still happened.

Also, we've had bounty programs in the past for populations of people.

Yeah, Ziply has been great in my area. I give them money, they give me decent, reliable service with few strings attached. Really hope this doesn't change.

I like the sentiment, but that is predicated on there being another election under the same rule set which would allow either party to win. If things come to pass with the unitary executive theory outlined in Project 2025 and the dictatorship desires that have already been declared, makes it unlikely votes will work to change political parties going forward...

Sounds like it was all good, so just the dust not being visible on the IR view.
