You were strawmanning me. You have no evidence that I support those actions or beliefs, which I don’t.

Literally never watch or read Fox, lol. Stop strawmanning.

This is an example of what I personally want in this community. A conservative echo chamber limits free speech and criticism of conservative values, which weakens conservatives and conservatism.

It’s c/conservative, not c/ConservativeEchoChamber.

I am just a lowly mod; not the creator, admin, or head mod of this community.

I see liberal comments, but I wouldn’t say this is a liberal community. Maybe more moderate than you like, but I don’t know your views.

I am very much conservative, and every day living in California with friends who say they hate conservatives and would never date a conservative or break up with someone who has conservative views further cements my conservatism.

I believe this is a great example of a “straw man argument”. A false and easy to knock down claim is made and said to represent your opponent, then it’s knocked it down and said, “see how weak your position is?”.

What was my false claim? That those identifying as trans are going through psychological stress because they’re uncomfortable with their bodies? If someone identifies as trans and it isn’t because they aren’t comfortable with the body they were born with and truly believe they belong to the opposite sex, I’m pretty sure that’s just cross-dressing. If the trans community truly wants acceptance and support, they need to distance themselves from those who are just “trans” for a kink or internet and social points.

Minors are almost never offered permanent physical modification …

Almost never isn’t never. It should be never.

That’s the whole point of puberty blockers, they delay potentially horrifying changes to allow a few more years to for such a major life decision.

That’s propaganda. Do you seriously believe stopping a normal biological process has no lasting effects? Even if it was true that a biological process could simply be paused, if a child is uncomfortable with their current body, would “pausing” it in that state not further make them hate themselves? Sounds like abuse to me.

I didn’t become trans because a drag queen read me a book or trans lady made a bud light video, that’s the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard.

I don’t think anyone ever has. Also, who’s straw-manning now?

Besides all that, my comment was that if you’re having psychological stress, seek psychological help, not surgical. I don’t see how that’s controversial.

This is a new community on a platform that has had a massive surge of users, so there are going to be growing pains for a bit. My goal as a mod is to allow for conversation on both liberal and conservative ideas, and I believe several other mods agree with me. We may become more strict if this does become a liberal community, though.

An important tool for the mod team too is you guys flagging/reporting posts and comments. I check in almost every day and have received no reports for over two weeks. As the community grows, this will become even more important since we can’t read every post or comment. I have read nearly every one though, lol.

Conservatives, liberals, mainstream media, and social media all play a part. I don’t think I can blame any one group; maybe social media is the worst offender since it has the most reach. And yeah, he is the former president and current presidential candidate so he’s gonna draw clicks and views, so I see the incentive.

Do you have a source for that? I know people who are liberal rate as “happier”, but idk about more artsy. Also, Idaho and Utah are just two states that are red and known for their sights. You could argue conservatives are more inclined towards natural beauty since they lean towards living away from cities and in rural areas while the largest, population dense concrete jungles are liberal.

Legal immigration is great. The problem with cities not enforcing immigration policy is that it can lead to:

  • Increased crime
    • People entering the country aren’t background checked and processed
  • Increased underpaid or unpaid workers in poor working conditions
    • They aren’t legal citizens, so unfortunately don’t have much in the way of legal rights
  • Increased strain on social programs
    • This lowers resource availability for the legal citizens that depend on those programs and pay taxes to fund them.

Republicans or conservatives as a whole? I assume you’re talking about Trump, whom I and many other conservatives very much dislike, even if his interactions are entertaining. I’ll believe a “conspiracy” if presented with enough substantial evidence.

I of course can’t speak for every conservative, but neither can you.
