@bruhbeans I think people feel more uninhibited on a platform like Lemmy, Typically, when you post on Mastodon your post will show up in the timeline for everyone who follows you and if not Unlisted, in public timelines as well. There'slemmy-worldxposure for just responding to something simple and niche. In the lemmy-world, people follow communities and view threads, not individual accounts, so they aren't typically exposed to the random commentary people have.

@liaizon @memmy having a good app icon is half the battle imo

@ubergeek77 You got it! I'm honestly a little lost as I'm just wilding @'ing things and seeing what happens. Feels like I should have been tracking this a bit better and turn it into a blog post or something. Let me know what replying to this does on your server.

@joyjoy nice of you to have me! I’m now cross-posting multiple Lemmy threads across multiple accounts. Confused but this is honestly thrilling… 😂

@lemmyworld oh fun! I can post to Lemmy.world from a random Mastodon account without having an account on lemmy.world. Despite the fact that it appears they mandate I have an account to comment (and presumably post). Let's see if this post reply works...

Let's also see what happens if I randomly [at] @infosecpub and @[email protected]

@shellsharks @infosecpub One last funny thing I noticed (then I swear I'm done testing this for now), when you upvote a post on Lemmy (which still works despite replies being borked), it propagates to Mastodon as a star. How whimsical!

@AGTMADCAT @shellsharks @infosecpub

Yeah it's weird, it's like a post originating from Mastodon can be interacted with from Mastodon but natively within Lemmy it is borked.

@shellsharks @infosecpub let's try replying to this post from a different account...
