Hot take. Would you like to expand on that?

Anthracite Fields by Julia Wolfe

Won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Music. Gives an impression of life in coal country around the turn of the century; the same sort of milieu that spawned songs like "16 Tons" by Tennessee Ernie Ford. It's artsy fartsy music through and through, but I think it's very effective in its aims. The composer intended it as an exploration and tribute to American labor history.

Saw these guys open for Coheed and Cambria and Primus this summer. It was a very confusing set, but I liked it a lot.

The one I had while waiting for the rotator flight to get me the fuck out of Afghanistan after a year of rations and dining facility fare. It may have been marginally better than BK at your local franchise, but, as the other poster is saying, the overall quality of the meal is not important in this particular context. It being a shitty fast food hamburger is its appeal.

4 was something of a departure from the formula, wasn't it?

HoMM2 was my game from the series. For whatever reason, I never really progressed past that one, even though I had heard 3 was the consensus favorite.

The kind of grace I yearn for in my performance reviews.

If getting banned from someone's toy box because I asked them to clarify their statement is the worst thing that happens to me on any given day, then things are looking up in the real world.

To be fair, if I were asked, "crashing or non-crashing?", on my way through the terminal, I would also prefer non-crashing.

Idle thought, not fully staffed: kinda turns the whole "you cannot use the tools of the Enemy, as they are evil in and of themselves and will bring even the most noble low" vibe of the books on its head.

Or, at least, I seem to recall passages to the effect of fear being one of Sauron's chief weapons. Could probably find a lit crit essay on this subject if I went digging.

Yes. The United States Board on Geographic Names is the group within the Department of the Interior which handles these matters. They are a part of the executive branch. I suspect that you can follow a chain of delegated authorities through that board, up the civil service hierarchy, landing on the desk of the President.

This is an example of the system not accounting for, or being ambivalent about, the election of someone to that office with a fascist ideology.

Is this a weird fediverse instance thing? Like I'm not seeing some comments? Cause this thread is about the comic adaptation of a novel which was cut short. OP was saying it's a shame for comic writer who got screwed and is quoted in the body of this post.

While that may be true, you also put them in places that should have a comma, but you want more pause; this is why boiling it down to a single aphorism is difficult.

For example, I've read most of the comments in this thread, as well as the Oatmeal info-comic that someone linked, and I still don't know with certainty the semicolon I used above is grammatically appropriate.

Hello c/Warframe!

First of all, I want to make a big shout out to @[email protected] , whose effort in writing the Weekly Warframe Revisited posts here are what got me back into the game recently.

I just crossed something like 120 hours played (across many different attempts to "get into" the game over the last 10 years), which I know is peanuts compared to many folks, but it's a significant personal milestone. It's very rare that any game holds my attention for that amount of time, though full disclosure compels me to state that, prior to this latest interaction with the game, I'd wager I didn't make it more than 10 hours in any of my previous attempts.

So, thanks to Keegen and their work here. I'll speak for all of my fellow lurkers (what are they gonna do, post something to correct me? I think it unlikely lol) by saying we appreciate the effort you've put into preventing this community from stagnating.

In an effort to contribute, do any of you have any moments you'd like to share where Warframe made you do your best Exasperated Picard?

I'll go first. Important to note 100+ playtime hours. I JUST discovered this week that the handful of mods I have in my inventory which affect multiple damage stats are rewards for Nightmare Missions. I've felt like my main frame's power level had plateaued for some time, and routinely struggle to take on enemies in the 40-50 range on longer endless missions. Cue me learning that I'd been (intentionally) ignoring the mode which grants the exact sort of reward that breaks a build through to that tier of content, and cue my Picard impression.

Posting for posterity's sake. Not thrilled with the track, but I'll sit with it for while and see if I come around. Anyone got takes?

Cross posting for lack of a better term from [email protected] for visibility.

I hope that this doesn't result in accelerated enshittification. I've been upgrading my home theater set up over time and I was finally ready to start building my collection of titles. Criterion factored heavily into my shopping list.

I hope this is allowed. Seems like a lot of books / content for a steal of a price.

I haven't checked in on this game since around launch. Anyone want to bring me up to speed on what's happening? I gather the latest expansion pack is priced differently than prior DLC?

Also, that line about discussion being a privilege seems icky.
