Ah jeez no I'm sorry, I was being much too severe and I had oversimplified it. Normalcy is great for all kinds of things like roads and statistics. Some of my best friends are normal!

I've had to explain... basically everything to him because he had never experienced/heard of these before

Oh I see what happened here. You as The Giver must enlighten this sheltered one the experiences that were entrusted to you. He might not forgive you for sharing such knowledge, but it is your duty.

The terms normal, healthy, and natural evolve depending on cultural and scientific ideas. Being gay is natural again, but some don't like the word because they associate it with hate. Normal is a word I associate with hate and exclusivity. I have always been, and always will be, abnormal.

Did you not know that your body works with the resources you give it? That's okay. Here is an accredited article on the subject. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9772031/ A system that has the nutrients to make an immune response is more effective than the malnourished one.

Yes I would like to change this, too. Who do I vote for to make this happen? Just kidding I don't have access to $10B of "free speech."

I struggle with these feelings too. I'm always on the lookout for someone expressing distress and I tend to attend to their needs at the expense of my own work. It is important for me to recognize when someone actually wants assistance or if I'm just "mansplaining," which would be annoying and demeaning.

Sometimes, if I don't understand the problem myself, I find it very interesting to learn how to solve it, and the experience is usually mutually beneficial.

😭 It was in the Operating Room too, which means it had no laugh track. I loved the versatility of this show, but the OR was dead serious. The optimism of Mulcahey against the emphatic cynicism of Hawk is a great character moment. I'm dead inside.
