The new plan is to grow a patch of grass next to me desk. and then when someone tells me to touch grass, I simply reach over and pet it.

MacOS has a feature built in, but its not nearly as feature rich. this will let you re-calibrate the battery, set charging schedules, manually force the battery low, manually discharge, etc. it seems awesome!

It will all depend on the game, and if the developer has the will to port it to a different apple operating system. In theory, a game that runs well on the equivilant macbook Air, could potentially play decently on IPad, provided the themals can be kept under control.

Though, unfortunately the porting toolkit isnt a one and done thing. Its a toolkit, it provides tools that lubricate the transition to apple silicon. It also provides a pretty rough translation layer that allows developers to get a taste of the potential performance on the silicon, however the layer isnt perfect, and isn't really designed for production use.

That being said, the toolkit has tools to convert shaders over to Metal automagially, and if the developer chose to use a rendering or input framework, it will make the transition very easy indeed.

Anyone use AlDente? (self.apple_enthusiast)

Hey all!

Was curious if anyone here uses AlDente for their macbook, and how well it works. If so, what settings do you use? Has it made a difference in your macbook's battery health?

Thanks!

My only question, if they are gonna implement it like a compatibility layer. Otherwise im worried it will only be popular as a dev tool. Amazing to see either way

Yeah I just didnt understand how it worked yet. I made an assumption that the severs were independent, and not linked. So i made an account on lemmy.world and lemmy.ml

As for this post, I was encountering issues subscribing to communities, not instances.

Hi all!

Its wonderful to be on lemmy, and so far it seems like the community is super welcoming.

I do have a silly question though, When i search for a community, i get tons of results from different servers. and it seems like i can comment on posts and interact with them. This is, until I subscribe; It seems like I can subscribe easily, without friction in lemmy.world and beehaw. However, when I subscribe to lemmy.ml, it just says subscribe pending, and im not sure why.

I feel like im missing something fundemental here.

Thank you for your time!
