@darklukee @BombOmOm You could check out @ragnarbjartur over here on Mastodon, he posts daily updates of this stuff. Some fantastic visualisation work in his data dashboard, tracking daily russian losses, rolling averages, etc for multiple categories. He's doing incredible work, well worth following if you're interested in visualisation of these figures.

@dana @[email protected] I read elsewhere (like this article in the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/oct/28/chef-ievgen-klopotenko-putting-ukrainian-cuisine-back-on-the-map) how even Ukrainians tended to lose memory of their own culinary heritage during Soviet times, and there’s a big movement by people like Ievgen Klopotenko (https://klopotenko.com/en) to reintroduce stuff that was lost back into their culture (he also has a book coming out in English later this year which I’m really looking forward to!).

@dana @[email protected] Sorry, it did not boost your reply to me.

I agree - Summer Kitchens is excellent. I really want to try to write a review some time. It was quite a revelation to me, Ukrainian cuisine - like, it really should be considered one of the top world cuisines. And the fact that not only is it not - but that almost nobody would even think there is such a thing in the first place - probably says quite a lot about the colonial silencing of the Ukrainian culture.

@[email protected] @I_Like_Books @[email protected] @dana Oh well spotted - yes I think that's what is happening for me too, couldn't figure out why some replies with my Lemmy account worked and some didn't...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

@I_Like_Books @toni @dana Sorry, I meant when I reply using my Lemmy account. In theory you don't need one to reply - like we just did now from Mastodon. But if you want to make longer replies or for other reasons you might use one. The group should boost any replies, and you can then boost those in Mastodon to spread if you want. I think this whole thing is kind of a work in progress though - in general we're not used to working with software with so many quirks, but we'll get there 😊

@I_Like_Books @toni @dana Followed the group in Akkoma so will report on there next time a post is added with URL - my understanding is old posts do not get populated when first followed, or something, so need to wait for a new one with URL.

Oh and still can't reply to most posts in Lemmy, hence here from Mastodon.

@I_Like_Books @toni @dana Somewhat annoyingly, pictures attached when you reply in Mastodon do not show up here in Lemmy either. And I'm unable to upload any pictures in Lemmy - get a json error.

But I see your pictures in Mastodon when this group boosted it (strange), and confirm same for me - my review post and Dana's podcast post both appeared in my feed boosted by the group. Don't know about Calckey, instance having major slowdowns so not checking much in the evenings.

@flibbertigibbet It really is. It blows my mind. And because it's so good, it basically makes it possible for most people to run Linux with no real compromises. Albeit some more specific needs that might prevent that for a smaller number of people.

@privsecfoss Starsector has a Linux build, and is an excellent game.
