I don't think the repository itself is public. But pdftk is licenced under GPL2, and so PTFLabs has published the source code here.
I imagine you could contact PDFLabs directly if you wanted to contribute.

I'm using pdftk to add/remove pages, which works perfectly. Also does stuff like rotate some pages, ect. Easily scriptable, so stapling together all the PDFs in a dictionary is super easy.
For actual editing (removing text, adding complex things), I just use Inkscape. How well that works depends on the PDF itself.
And just highlighting text is something every single PDF viewer can do nowadays.
Das verstehe ich, aber ich sehe da immer noch keine Kosten, außer du rechnest dein gesamtes Leben in Kosten um, was ich etwas weird fände.
Nennt sich Opportunitätskosten. Macht jeder, die ganze Zeit.

Grundsätzlich ist es kein Problem, in der Praxis ist es aber dann doch wieder nicht so einfach. Wenn du nicht weisst, auf welcher Instanz die beste/größte Community für deine Suchanfrage zu finden ist kannst du leider nicht einfach "best stepper motor CNC lemmy" googlen. Denn dann kriegst du vielleicht lemmy.world und lemmy.ml Ergebnisse, feddit wird aber außen vor bleiben (bis google vielleicht irgendwann feddit als synonym für lemmy definiert - sh.itjust.works wird dann eventuell aber trotzdem nicht durchsucht).
Um Parität zu den heutigen site:reddit.com und site:twitter.com Google queries zu kriegen müsste Google es seinen Nutzern erlauben spezifisch das fediverse zu durchsuchen. Ob das irgendwann kommt ist heute noch völlig unklar.

In their defense, writing a good search engine is very hard, even if you own all the data yourself.
There's a good reason why the litte search bar on reddit, on every forum ever created and on every corporate website is basically useless.
It's also why, among other minor technological challenges (like caching and indexing the entire fediverse), there is no search engine for Lemmy. Nor will there likely ever be one. Which is actually a pitty, because finding valuable information in a comment stashed on some minor instance will be nearly impossible - even for google.
I can confirm. It's really strange. There are posts hosted on lemmy.ml, where the comment section - when viewed from lemm.world - is 10 time larger then when viewed from lemmy.ml. Sometimes lemmy.world users are having complete conversations nobody from another instance can see.
First example I found:
Its the same comment section hosted my lemmy.ml, but when viewed via lemmy.world/c/[email protected], much more comments show up, the extra comments are only visible to lemmy.world users.
And it's not limited to lemmy.ml. I saw the same thing happening on post hosted by feddit.de.
