A 73 year old guy complaining about 'kids these days' is not a sign of collapse lol

Why is this story suddenly getting posted to dozens of communities that in seeing in my feed?
It's one 73 year old tribal elder who complained that today's youth don't respect tradition. This same story has been pre-printed for thousands of years.
I keep scrolling through all and seeing this re-posted over and over again, so to save anyone else the trouble- the NY Times interviewed one 73 year- old tribe elder who complained about the youth not following traditions.
I think we're done here.
It's not in that source, but other sources like this one cite Tsainama Marubo (the main tribal elder who gave all the quotes) as being 73 years old.
Seems to me like the Times found some old guy to complain about the younger generation, which I imagine helps to sell a lot of physical copies of the Times.
Elders like Tsainama Marubo, 73, observe a decline in traditional activities and increasing cultural division.
It has been continuously been reviewed and rejected by the APA due to lack of scientific evidence supporting it's existence.
There are people out there with compulsive disorders that can be associated with any activity, including consuming pornography. I will not deny that there are people suffering from such conditions that should be helped. There is no evidence that pornography is itself addictive.
This case is just an old man yelling at a cloud. It's just like the satanic panic of the 1980's. It's just like the false (and somewhat racist) claims against MSG. It's propaganda masquerading as science. It's morality masquerading as medicine.
This was the biggest barrier for me getting a headset.
I'm not letting any piece of hardware from Meta in my house or on my network. The Valve Index looks great, but is expensive and seems like it's due for a refresh.
The PSVR2 always seemed like it would be a great deal if only it could be used for PC too. I know there was ready an unofficial project working on PC compatibility, so I wonder if either that community or Sony might be able to add in these missing features later? Is it a technical issue, or does Sony just want to keep the PS5 as the more premium experience?
Also I do have a PS5 and a couple of VR games for it that I got for free, so that compatibility is a nice bonus. I'm leaning towards getting the Horizon bundle. I'm thinking I take a few months to save up and do a bit more research, but leaning towards getting it now.
Lol a good chunk of those "breaches and hacks" are either unrelated to PlayStation (Sony Pictures being the most notable) or had no impact to users.
I don't care if they leak their source code for games or if their social media account gets socially-engineered. Even an outage from a DDOS isjust a minor inconvenience. According to the source you posted, they haven't had any issues leaking PlayStation user data since 2011, over a decade ago.
Security concerns are valid for everything you do on the Internet of course, but are you bringing that same energy to Valve for the security issues Steam has had over the years too? The 2023 issue with dev accounts getting hacked to inject malware. The 2020 issue with the "Steam Sockets" library. They had their own data breach similar to Sony's in 2011.
It's funny to me because tons of PC-exclusive games also require accounts on Steam and no one cares.
The requirement is dumb, but the attention is also disproportionate because of console war fandom.
It absolutely can be sustainable without exploiting labor. All it takes is for owners to settle for less profit.
I've typed up and re-written a couple of paragraphs a few times just to realize I'd be better off linking this video. Basically, there used to be more business models in the food industry that helped to feed it an laborers- people who may not have a kitchen and probably didn't have time to go buy groceries, cook, and clean. These businesses (automats, lunch wagons, diners) took a more utilitarian approach to food to make it affordable and nutritious, rather than the luxury experience "eating out" is today.
Giving people access to the same pool of information and connectivity the rest of the world is collapse?
Giving them the resources to better administer first aid, learn art and music, and share their culture with the world is a sign of collapse?
Letting some tribesman jack off while watching a purple haired woman in California finger herself is a sign of the collapse? Not unless you believe the myths about Sodom and Gomorrah.
