Please, please, let this not be another Cold Fusion debacle.

I think it’s great, and PETg is a fine choice. I’d be curious what TPU would be like (easier to deflect and a little grippy…but maybe too grippy).

Another possibility would be to make a mold and run it with a stiff silicone. There’s a trick of filling the mold with very warm beeswax and then dumping the excess wax out that fills all the pores before you pour in the silicone. I’m just thinking out loud of a way to easily make this heat sterilizable or autoclavable as well as easily reproducible.

Best of luck - it’s great to see practical prints!!

What amazes me is that they’ll do it again.

They're all living vicariously through his "sticking it to The Man" act. They love him because this is what they think they would do if they were in power. They cheer him getting away with it because it's exactly how they would write fan fiction about themselves (were they literate).

a country that is not your own

Well, the already own the US (or at least most of the congress); why not try and expand?

Like most scientific and technical advances, it could be an amazing tool for personal use. It won’t, of course. It will be used to make someone rich even richer, and to control or oppress people. Gotta love humanity.

I suppose the best option would be to decide to expand the fan, condemn the land, and take it over using eminent domain for assessed value on the tax records.

Everything should be based on gross revenue - especially taxes. You shouldn’t get to not pay for all the infrastructure your country provides just because you spent too much on the business. The electric Co, water, suppliers, and contractor services get paid whether you make money or not. Government should be the same.

I’m not sure if being a fan of old sci-fi is for or against liking the cybertruck. IMHO the brilliance of the Tesla vehicles, to date, has been that they don’t try to look like futuristic vehicles as imagined by mid- to late-20th century (physical effect era) sci-fi films. Instead of looking goofy, they’re normal.

The cybertruck is a radical departure from that, and I suspect it’s going to hit a wall of interest/demand. I think there is a knee or sharp cutoff, with few people in the “don’t care either way” category. Lots of people (non-NASCAR fans) would be happy with any truck that is reliable and has the features they want because they all look like normal trucks. That casual demand wont extend to the cybertruck.

There’s still a core of easily offended people who ended up here on Lemmy. Kinda sad, but that’s humanity.

Which is basically google maps with a couple extra features. In my utterly unscientific, purely anecdotal study I’ve found the traffic and routing data to be better at avoiding traffic and providing more accurate arrival times. This data was collected over a long diving vacation where my wife and I both had maps up (me:waze, her:Amaps) and about two thirds of the way through in asked her why her Waze was giving her different (and substantially shittier) directions than on my phone (both are iPhones). When I looked at her phone it clearly wasn’t using Waze. She didn’t realize she had defaulted back to Apple Maps.

I don’t mind Apple Maps, generally, and the watch integration, like everything else, is excellent. But I mostly hate how ugly my Apple Watch is and rarely wear it anymore.
