Reminder - gas prices cannot be hiked by suppliers because they don’t own the gas. Petroleum products are bought and sold on commodity markets before they’re ever refined or even removed from the ground. These “futures” are bought and sold and the price at the pump is related to the current price to purchase the product from the commodity brokers, plus transportation and local markup.

There are legitimate uses for futures contracts, but much of it is just gambling and capitalistic opportunism.

And they’re probably still there. I haven’t gone back and looked lately, but I did the delete whack a mole for about three weeks until my account was empty save for my up/down votes. It’s still empty.

But I looked up something a couple weeks ago and went to the Reddit link …and one of my comments was right there in the thread. There were others I could find via google, but not search on Reddit. They’re only there in context.

Republicans (conservatives, generally) have limited empathy. Relatively few people will ever have the need to seek an abortion as a percentage of the population - only half are even eligible. The lack of empathy means they do not consider that it is a problem for them until it actually happens to them. For the base it's a litmus test which allows the candidate to do or say almost anything and still guarantee a vote; for the rest who have never had to seek or don't expect to need to seek an abortion, it's a non-issue and they can cite more (American) moderate right policies like lower taxes and less regulation as their driving force.

I really enjoyed Kamakura, south of Tokyo. It had a bit of history, a bit of touristy stuff, and what seemed like a laid back vibe. I'll admit that I didn't really plan much for what I'd do when I was there. I went to see an old friend (hadn't seen him in 25-30 years) on an absolute lark. He's lived in Tokyo for at least 15 years now, so he took me to a few popular places around Tokyo along with two spots I wanted to go (Mt. Takao and Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum; I won't call either "exciting" and the latter was a little weak on the interpretation imho).

IMO they look pretty ugly and visually mar the landscape. They do so less than power plants and pollution and are a necessary evil for modern society to function. They look cool because of what they stand for and because they are novel (and because they're new and clean, generally).

I do worry about what will happen when they are decommissioned, as there are currently no ways to recycle the blades due to the way they are manufactured.

The obvious first step is revocation and personal barring for life every single person who participated in the communication from holding a SEC license. The second is jail time for anyone who did it willfully. The third is revocation of their corporation or, in the interest of stockholders who are about to become personally liable, a 50 year probationary period in which revocation of corporation is automatic should any other infraction come to light.

Revocation of corporate status. A corporation is a status set out in US law. No corporate status, no legal protection for officers or shareholders. All liability falls personally and directly on the owners.

Why pay for someone else's telemetry when you can get your own, direct.

Oh, so it turns out that airlines do approve of skiplagging when it suits their interests.

I hate to admit it but, yeah, Id sell you all out for 200M. I’d feel bad about it, though.

Late to the party here - yes, the App is Suica. You can use a VPN to get it and load it ahead of time. Sept of 2022 I couldn't add Visa or MC as payment, but I could add Amex. By putting the Suica app/card in your Apple wallet it becomes the default payment for transit. I think I got a JREast pass as well as my travels took me to Sendai and it was cheaper for a 5 day JREast than to pay the Shinkansen fare by itself. (I was there longer than the 5 day pass, so I use Suica pay-per-ride outside the 5 days)

Meth

Hm, no, then I take it back. You can keep that shit LOL. We got enough of that down in Pulaski to last a lifetime - and it's way cheaper.
