Here in the US, our food culture has been very beef centric for over a century. Hamburgers, BBQ, steaks, beef tacos, etc are all part of our food culture.

ETA: Our factory farmed chicken is often bland. Our pork often tastes like a pig pen without tons of seasoning, sauce, brining, etc.

That's a machine gun, not a rocket.

Why does Israel need military aid? They are by far the superior force. Their response to it is worse than the US response to the 2001 attacks.

I'm not against parking a carrier group off the coast to prevent some other country from taking advantage of the situation, but I don't see why Israel needs US help.

The entire situation is a dumpster fire. Hamas resorting to random acts of violence instead of a targeted attack dooms their cause. Giving in to terrorism sends the message that it is an effective strategy, encouraging more of it. Israel's reaction is almost as bad. Everyone is being punished for the actions of a few. The antisemitism from people like this hurts the Palestinian cause too.

I also have an issue with how there is the expectation to just trust holy books. It would be pretty easy to provide evidence by adding things that are way ahead of the time in a cryptic manner., Things that won't make sense for thousands of years. Only the wise should wield 235 of 92, for it holds great power. Or time increases with speed. Or 8 minutes from the sun.

Their own book should help. Calvinists make a good point. In Exodus, the pharaoh was going to give in to the Jews, but god changed the pharaoh's mind. Later in Romans, god/Jesus/Paul pretty much comes out and says everything is determined by God, so there is no free will. So fearing hell is pointless, it isn't up to you.

All it takes is one ounce of doubt to honestly search for truth to see through the Bible.

Thomas Paine did an amazing job pointing out the problems with the Bible using the Bible as his reference. He dated the authorship of the earliest books at around 500BCE, which isn't far off from the oldest fragments found.

I don't feel good so my brain is broken, hence the rambling tangents.

I think all Christians should watch The Good Place. It does a great job showing why the most Christian concepts of heaven and hell aren't ethically sound.

It is a hilarious show that is also like a really great introductory ethics class. It sounds weird, but it works.

It pokes fun at a lot of ethical viewpoints. It shows the short comings deontological (lawful good, follow the rules) several times even though one of the main characters loves Kant. Christian ethics is pretty much deontological, but inconsistent and impossible to actually follow to a T.

I also think it is probably the best series of all time. At least the best I have seen. It is loaded with references, foreshadowing, details and subtleties. I have seen the whole thing 4-5 times and notice new things every time.

For those that don't understand calculus. Bending the 2nd derivative means we have slowed the rate of increase of emissions, but they are still increasing by more each year.

Keep long routes diesel or gas for now and wait for battery tech to improve. Even if 70% of buses are moved to electric, it is still a big chunk of emissions that are cut.

Elon would do something ridiculous like buy Lyft for 10 billion too much and require drivers to use Teslas. He would then get a cost+percentage transportation contract. He then gold plates the interior components after a few years so the cost is higher, therefore the percentage is bigger.

I'm slightly optimistic.

What we really need is a widely recognized and transparent organization to lead the effort. Like the red cross for blood donations. I've looked at various groups, but they tend to be opaque regarding funding. The transparency is vital because without it, we could be easily misled into supporting a group that is created by say oil companies designed to have us chasing red herrings.
