Ok, so many things to unpack here. First, it's important to remember that these kinds of issues are very much systematic. You can't point your finger at one person or even one state and say that they are the issue. The issue here is deep seated racism in the United States, legalized slavery that is literally written into the US constitution. And Alabama being a poor state filled with uneducated people is not those people's fault. It again comes back to racism and other huge issues of inequality. It's best to have some curiosity. Why is Alabama full of these issues? Is it because people are different there? Probably not, it's not like evolution works that fast on a geographic area that isn't isolated. So you have to ask why, and look for the self perpetuating power dynamics. Second, insulting one group of people by referencing another group using a slur damages both groups. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities are vulnerable to discrimination and exploitation. Let's not try to solve the problem of racism by deepening the problem of ableism. We have to work on it all at the same time. Power structures arise because one group exploits vulnerabilities in another. When you put down a whole group of people, it is likely because you feel that lack of powerlessness that comes with being in a hierarchy, and you're acquiring power for yourself by rendering others less powerful than you. This isnt a moral failing on your part, instead, I would say that it's an ineffective strategy that only serves to further entrench the hierarchy and your place in it. Instead, let's work to equalize everyone, lifting up everyone to the same height.

OK thanks for listening.

This is like the house of my dreams. Not my daydreams, my actual sleeping dreams, where each room is super weird and I can never find my way back to the one room I need to be in.

Y'all is the opposite of offensive for trans people. I lived in the south for a while, and I now use y'all specifically to be inclusive. I wouldn't say "you guys" is offensive to trans women, but I would say for me and likely other trans women it briefly brings to mind being misgendered in the past, so I would call it a small kindness to ube as gender neutral as possible.

It's not about the form of words, it's about the history of words. Was a word used to hurt people for something they had no control over? Because of this history does that group of people feel hurt or especially powerless when that word is used to refer to them? Then don't use that word. If you don't know why a word is a slur or derogatory, consider that you may not know the history of how the word has been used or how people feel when that word is used against them.

The funny thing is that it's no longer true that Rick and Morty are voiced by the same person. Justin Roiland was fired and they hired two different people to play them. A good decision in my opinion.

What was difficult was the constant security checks, it happened like every time I changed devices and occasionally things were encrypted and unable to be read, it felt totally unusable. It's true that I don't quite get docker, I have a few services that run on dcker, but most of them run straight on arch. Yes I know arch isn't ideal for servers, I'll fix it next summer during school break

I tried running a matrix server last year. I guess I will try again and see if a normie like me can make it somewhat usable.

You actually can visit Canada as a US citizen with just a passport. So in an emergency, I could cross over in a rush. But mostly I am worried that Trump will say you can't change your gender marker on passports. So I'm preempting that with this passport application.

We... don't? Have you not been watching American news for the last... 9 years? I don't speak with my family because me being trans is not fully accepted by them. I don't really want to associate with anyone who is okay with increasing trans suicides via politics. I moved from North Carolina to Oregon to be in a queer friendly state, and I don't regret it one bit. And I have an appointment to get my passport tomorrow... just in case. I don't know if this country can be fixed. People talk about getting along with our neighbors or meeting in the middle, but I don't know how to get along with people who wish I didn't exist.
