Satisfaction at making your asshole boss do something that he/she clearly didn't want to do. Satisfaction that you made it as awkward as possible for them. You can also play the game of threatening to take them to an industrial tribunal for harassment. They might even give you a financial incentive to go peacefully. It worked for me on a couple of occasions and the bastards deserved it.

Make them fire you. I've done it that way loads of times when dissatisfied in a workplace. There's nothing quite like being fired and out of work to make you get your shit together and find something else. Also, make a plan to become self-employed if you can. Having been fired loads of times I now work for myself and it was the best move I ever made. I no longer have to deal with asshole mangers any more and if there's someone you dislike and don't want to work for, you can either not take on the job or over-quote on the costs to get rid of them. Sometimes they're stupid enough to agree to those costs, so then you at least feel satisfied about working for an asshole.

Yup. "The map is not the territory" as Alfred Korzybski put it.

If you've ever grown your own potatoes, when you come to harvest them you might find the odd one or two poking through the soil that have been sun exposed and thus green. Apparently you're not supposed to eat them. I just peel the skin off them and eat them anyway. No issues. As for eating them raw, I'm not sure why you'd want to. My mother always ate a chunk of raw potato when she was chopping them, to no ill effect. I've tried it, but it's not tasty like a piece of raw carrot or turnip.

I'm really not understanding this whole "poisonous potato" thing. As far as I'm concerned you just boil, roast or fry the damn things and eat them with skin on or off.

Maybe they're poisonous the same way alcohol, nicotine and caffeine are considered poisons. I think you'll find every vegetable is poisonous to some degree.

I've never heard of anyone ever being poisoned by a potato. I know you're not supposed to eat potatoes that have turned green in the sun or started sprouting, but I've always ignored that rule, cut off the green bits or peeled away the sprouts before cooking. Never had an issue.

What a load of utter bollocks. By that definition my grandad would've been scheduled to die at an age of 750 if he'd quit the smokes early in life.

Holy Smokes!

I thought I was late by 2005.

And I am sure there are people who are absolutely convinced I'm antisemitic (a term that gets thrown around way too often and has no relation to the actual true meaning of the term "Semite"). Personally, I don't care for anyone's primitive monotheistic religious beliefs, Jewish or otherwise.

Zelenskyy, in my opinion, is an American imperialist tool just like Netanyahu. Could you imagine America's response if the ball was on the other foot and unfriendly powers were encroaching on their borders? There's a reason that Ukraine isn't in NATO already. It's a fragile democracy at best and corrupt to the core at worst.

As for the IDF, I'd be interested to find out the percentage of Jews to non-Jews that serve, but given that 65% of the Jewish Israeli population oppose the criminal prosecution of soldiers suspected of gang-raping Palestinian prisoners held in torture facilities, I'm guessing the percentage is high.

Do you think it's possible to make one of those virtual personal assistants (Alexa for example) speak like Orac from Blake's 7?

I will only ever use one if I can get it to sound like Orac.

Having recently returned to Linux after a twenty year hiatus, I'm currently enjoying OverTheWire as a good terminal refresher.

OverTheWire offers various wargames that let you practice and test your skills in security concepts. You can join the chat, visit the game pages, and connect to each game using SSH on different ports.
