Not always, it really depends on what the person who did the board layout or wrote the firmware thought. When I do a board/firmware I label it from the devices perspective, so the TX is where the bits I'm transmitting will be coming out of, RX is where I'm expecting your bits to be sent to. Others label it from the perspective of the device connecting to it. So TX is where you connect the line your sending bits from. To me that's wierd because, to others it's what they expect. There is no standard and the result is you end up hooking it to an oscilloscope and see which line bits are being sent from. Then you use the scope to figure out all the settings. If they don't transmit in power up then... Frustration ensures

Its hard to learn by looking at pictures too... only after looking at my own coins for a while did I start to see issues with coins people post. They just don't look right, it can be hard to quantify. I'm guessing it gets easier to articulate the specific thing that makes a fake standout as you get even more experienced with ancients.

Woah! Nice, thanks for the link. I bought his book. :-) looks like his store has some great tools too, I already have several of them but there are others I don't already have that could prove very useful. Thank you.

Welcome :-) I've joined your community and look forward to posting there for some attribution help in the future. I was a lurker sometimes poster on the Reddit ancient coins subreddit, but I never really felt welcome because coin cleaning is generally negatively received there (with occasional exceptions). I can understand why because there is no shortage of people that buy ancients that are already cleaned and want to clean them, leading to an over cleaned coin at best and a destroyed one at worst. If you get those guys there send em here and we can reassure them that the coin is already clean. Maybe they'll see examples of actually dirty coins that need cleaning and see that theirs is in good shape.

Don't forget trying to guess if the RX label is the line they transmit out of or you transmit to.

Lol, I remember saying that when I was a fresh new engineer.

My son (same age) really enjoys "My first castle panic" and "HABA Rhino Hero A Heroic Stacking Card Game". He has a ton of boardgames but likes those two the most.

I think Lemmy is reddit like, so any server running lemmy will be reddit like.

What really gets me is he carves their names into a structure and adds the date. The date was 23... As if 23 means anything to a structure that was built by people who were around in the actual year 23.

Lol, I live in Melbourne, FL USA... Was really confused at first when reading the article because I apparently forgot there is a way bigger and more widely known Melbourne.
