Oooh I haven't listened to Lead Into Gold in a while and you're right, it's pretty close to what I'm looking for. Thanks for the reminder!

I'm enjoying Kidneythieves, so thanks for the recommendation!

I want to be 2 or 3, but really I'm 7 or 12.

Thanks! I'm already familiar with HTDA but I haven't listened to any Kidneythieves yet so I'll check that out.

I'm looking for some industrial/electro-industrial with a "warm" sound to it... basically something like Boards of Canada but with more rhythmic and harsh percussion. Can anyone here recommend something that might fit?

That looks amazing! He should be proud.

I've been using Ardour for quite a long time now.

You know, I love those albums where they fucked around did things like hard-pan all the drums to the right channel. I'm here for the experimentation.

Yeah when it's explained to me I realise "of course, that makes so much sense".

And then I forget again, so I'm all Keanu-Reeves-whoa-face next time I think about it.

I'd watch that movie!

Your comment spawned a delightful train of thought where I imagined all the other fish trying, and failing, to successfully fuck before these two fish stumbled on how to do it.

It helps me to remember that mitochondrial Eve isn't a fixed individual, as well.

Mitochondrial Eve is just the most recent common female ancestor. So her mom would also be a common female ancestor, but not the most recent one.

This album came out yesterday and it's already one of my favourite releases of this year.

Tired of Me, by jesu (jesu.bandcamp.com)

I think about this song daily.

This is one of my favourite albums. It's a bit of an odd one out in Novembre's discography: it's generally a bit softer, it features mostly clean vocals, and it generally sounds quite upbeat.

The standout track for me is Jules: it balances a melodic tenderness with an outro that makes you want to headbang and cry out with joy all at the same time. The whole album gives me a distinctly summery vibe: lazy days, the feeling of life stretching out ahead of you... all the possibilities it brings.

This album will always hold a special place for me.

I love the alternate mix of this album by Amenra.

A Memory Stream, by The American Dollar (theamericandollar.bandcamp.com)

I first came across this band thanks to an animated video Fursy Teyssier (Les Discrets, Amesoeurs) made for one of their songs. I've loved them ever since.

One of my favourite tracks from Pallbearer's new album, Mind Burns Alive. It's beautiful.
