[–] mathterdark 30 points 5 months ago (5 children)

you’re telling me there are people who DON’T have a high-refresh monitor, mechanical keyboard, and wired 13-button mouse on them at all times?

Green - yes, you can!

Yellow, Red, Purple - no, you can’t!

Any good spots on campus you guys like to go to?

Personally, my favorite spot is anywhere west of the quad. We also have the Rose Garden between Building 17 and the business college. As well as the Japanese Garden next to the CLA area (RIP triangle building). The BRIC is also a popular spot, it's basically the campus gym/fitness center.

What about places on campus to study after the library closes?

Hard to say since the library closes pretty late during the semester (11pm, which is late for this area). However, there is a 24-hour computer lab located in the south-east corner of the library building. You just need your Bronco ID to get in.

Hello and welcome to our school!

Since you're new here, you'll most likely meet with a counselor during orientation to register for classes. To get an idea of what classes you need to take and have already taken, search for "CPP roadmap" on any search engine and look for the one for your major. Also, check assist.org to see which courses from your CC can be transferred over for credit.

Congratulations on getting accepted, and thanks for stopping by our little corner of Lemmy!

Campus operations at CPP will be changing on Monday, February 5 due to the incoming winter storm. Faculty are advised to hold classes remotely if possible, or cancel if not possible to hold class remotely. Non-essential employees should also work remotely.

Campus will still be open and minimally staffed. The school will provide an update at the end of the day regarding plans for operation on Tuesday, February 6.

STUDENTS: Please check Canvas or your CPP email for updates from your professors regarding classes tomorrow, or email your professors directly if they have not announced anything yet.

‘Reichsburger’ sounds like a fast food item

“Hello let me get one Reichsburger with cheese” “Do you want fries with that?”

that’s cool, but did you know that you can get more pizza if you order two mediums instead of a single large?

[–] mathterdark 8 points 10 months ago

“Enjoy the next 24 hours”

sounds like a threat even though it can mean the same thing as “have a nice day”

I am once again asking:

Do you fear God? —(yes)—> TempleOS

Course registration for the Spring 2024 semester begins on October 19, 2023 (or October 16 (today) for those with priority registration). Registration windows are assigned to students by class standing, in the following order:

  • Graduating Senior (90+ units completed and applied for graduation)
  • Senior (non-graduating, 90+ units completed)
  • Junior (61-90 units completed)
  • Sophomore (31-60 units completed)
  • Freshman (0-30 units completed)

To be eligible for a graduating senior registration window (beginning on the first day of registration), students should have completed 90 or more units by Spring 2023 and would have needed to apply for graduation by October 6, 2023.

Add/Drop period for Spring 2024 is from January 8 to February 2, 2024.

Students will be limited to registering for up to 16 course units during the general registration period (15 for priority registration). This may be increased to 18 units during the Add/Drop period. Graduating seniors will be able to register for up to 18 units. If a student wishes to take more than 18 units, they must submit a Petition to Exceed Unit Cap form during the Add/Drop period.

Students: Please log in to your BroncoDirect portal to view your assigned registration window for Spring 2024. It will be on the right side under Registration Window (Enrollment Dates), at the very bottom of the section. Make sure the date and time you are seeing is for the Spring Semester 2024 Term - Regular Academic Session.

ABET Accreditation Visit (self.calpolypomona)

ABET will be visiting Cal Poly Pomona from October 15-17 for re-accreditation of our engineering programs. They will be touring labs and other facilities in buildings 9 and 17, interviewing with students, faculty, & staff, among other things. The ABET team will not be interrupting classes or stopping random students or faculty in the hallways- rather, interviews will take place with those who volunteered/were chosen ahead of time.

In preparation for the visit, student card swipe access to all rooms in buildings 9 and 17 will be turned off from 12:00pm on October 13 (today) until 6:00 pm on October 15. The exterior doors will remain open, however all rooms will be locked and can only be opened by faculty/staff.

Ask some people why Windows Vista failed and they will tell you that most of the problem came from hardware compatibility. I don't remember ever having problems with Vista back when I used it. Then again I was running it on a brand new computer with the OS in question preinstalled.

And that's another thing, I think you're pretty much expected to upgrade your hardware at least every few years. I'd like to think that the people who had problems with Vista kept the same white-box PC they've had since 98SE, or even 95. Vista ran great if you had the right hardware. Maybe if Microsoft had optimized their OS even for XP-era machines it would have seen greater adoption.

I also really liked the Aero glass theme, it made younger me feel like I was in the future. Those gadgets at the side of the desktop were pretty cool too. Overall I think it was definitely ahead of its time, and with support for current software and hardware, would have been a solid choice for average computer users today.

WHY? Everywhere Hook its just hot guy after hot guy after hot guy. In my classes: hot guys. In the library: hot guys. At centerpointe: hot guys. How can I focus among all these hot guys? They're everywhere except my dorm! I can't even leave my own dorm anymore without my eyes being berated by male beauty. How do you other female specimen out there function with all these hot guys running wild? I came to CPP because everyone told me the guys here were ugly and I could finally focus on my studies. Jokes on me I guess!
