Hello! Im Trying out peertube and have some unanswered questions. Iv been having some troubles figuring out how to use that platform. One problem is that it takes much time to find an instance with open registration. But its Ok, not a big problem.

So I registered, but what is happening? Where is content from other instances? I cannot simply find my fav channels from other instances just by typing the name. But if you try to search with @[email protected] it surprisingly works. Well, may be my channel should be visible from other instances, right? Looks like not either.

But its not completely broken, some channels visible from X instance on Z instance, but on the other side Z channels on X instance undiscoverable.

Each instance also has different tranding and discover pages, which looks weird to me.

In other words, how do we know as content creators, if our channels can be discovered from other instances? And its not just about using Sepia Search (that only works if user knows what they are searching), but also displaying content on different instances in "Tranding", "Discover" and "Recently added" pages.

Another concern is about privacy.

We all know about P2P, and that when you connect to peers you reveal your IP address. How peertube protects users from ~~stealing~~ leaking their IP addresses?

Thank you! :3

Imagine applying to private university and reading their privacy policy, where they clearly say, how they get your private information from third parties and share all info with third parties. And when you ask administrator, how can i prevent them from doing that, they say, that they do not share/get info from/to thirdparties. Bravo

Hey guysss. Trying to find a job. But dont know where to start. What websites to use? Etc. I know rust lang and its more about finding job and not about my knowledge. Searching remotely job, half time, cuz im a student now. Thank you!

If i run X.org i dont need to modify my kernel or its configs, it just works well (well, well for X.org) out of box. With wayland its the other story. I need to enable nvidia-dkms module and much other stuff to should be configured. There is a whole page about enabling hyprland on nvidia.

https://wiki.hyprland.org/Nvidia/

I ran into troubles trying to set up wayland preperly with nvidia, it has many issues and visual artifacts. I know that the problem somewhere in my kernel set up, but i feels like there would be no problem if hyprland/wayland would not require that granual configuration.

I keep thinking about wayland as a fullscreen videogame that just draws windows (in wayland it called somewhat else though, dont remember the term). And this is kinda weird for me that a video game needs special kernel modules.

Probabely if in wayland they could not require this extra set ups on nvidia, they would do that. They should have some reasons for not doing that i just want to know why?

Thank you :3

Hey guys! Trying to understand what developers actually do to create a yet another distro, or what are the differences between existing distros. Lets say we have ubuntu and fedora. What are the differences? Excluding DE, Installer, theme, installed packages/libs and package manager. They both are FHS compliant, both running systemd what else?

Just wondering if there could be a way to "simulate", lets say ubuntu on fedora. For example providing every program that should be present on ubuntu in fedora. Would it be enough to be able to run .deb packages on fedora? Im not gonna do that though, just curious about this question.

Thank you!
