This has been a problem since boost's Reddit days. This was my suggested solution as well

We need a tumblr clone for ActivityPub to make that work.
Maybe kbin can do this?
Probably should leave the default on all to reduce the amount of duplicate communities. Or at least lower the chance of people needlessly joining local ones when a neighboring one is thriving.
It looks like a UPC barcode. So he should be able to scan it at any store that sells Oreos. With no worry about it changing.
At least in North America. I'm not sure if UPC codes are valid elsewhere.
