Can I donate to your campaign to ban political donations?

Fuck Electron. I hate that current trend. I like my long battery life and being able to run more than 3 applications on my MacBook Pro.

I will always use the example of how I subscribed to Spotify for a couple months back in 2015 and realized that the app constantly sat at the top of the Using Significant Energy list on my mac and was the reason the fan was so loud. I switched away to Apple Music for that sole reason. iTunes by comparison was very power efficient. It plays music for gods sake. How can you fail at playing music that badly.

Then you're really not doing that much research. I can easily open 20 to 50 tabs for just one project. I'm not defending leaving them open. I've finally started to address the problem by learning how to take notes. I chose Joplin for this.

Autism/ADHD is a bitch for some things and note taking and writing up research has never just "come to me".

So a republicans house is just this but every room is labeled guns?

Ur tolling right?

I'm both. Somehow. I apparently switch between them.

Isn't the Banana Pi R64/R3/R4 close enough to that?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 months ago (1 children)

FYI the open source OpenWRT based Banana Pi R3 AX 4x4 is a thing. Don't buy closed source Routers/APs on purpose.

Sound like another reason for the "free press" to get reforms about their accuracy reporting the "news". I am typically against such restrictive legislation but if the news holds that much power, they need to see some regulation put in place.

Every time someone writes x.com I immediately think they're talking about a porn site. What a shit rebrand. Or what a perfect name I guess?

I suppose one interpretation is that companies can no longer use "buy" and will have to use "rent" for that transaction.

My solution is RAIDZ5 and storing the backup on LTO6 tape with parity/erasure code. I think the fact that scrub times take 24 hours even on 16TB drives is already over the safety margin. If a drive failure happens, the first thing I'll do to run a manual diff backup which should take a fraction of the time and then run the ZFS resilver.

I'm beginning to see why SSD RAID is being considered now. My guess for HDDs in enterprise is that a RAID 15 (I made this up) would be considered. What I mean is data is stored on two identical servers each running RAID5 or 6. Off the shelf solutions like Gluster exist and that seems to be gaining traction at least according to Linus Tech Tips.

Newegg seems to be no longer offering free over ~$380 World EggSaver Standard to Australia? Can anyone else confirm this?

Is there any progress regarding buying a Framework without Intel Boot Guard or AMD PSB enabled?

There is a dead discussion on the framework community form where framework talked about

exploring the idea of shipping a version of the mainboard with boot guard disabled for those who want to run their own firmware

back in 2021 but nothing since.

I bought this cable for an IcyDock MB699VP-B V1 only to discover by multimeter that it is missing the #PERST and #REFCLK+- pins.

I can't test it but I believe it's good for SAS4 use.

Is this that something that someone will want? Or is it so niche that I'm unlikely to find a buyer? I bought it months ago so while I am waiting for a reply but it's unlikely that the seller will accept a return/refund.

Does lemmy have an even remotely thriving version of r/homelabsales?

I don't want to break my anti-reddit oath since June but this might do it.

The 10GBase-LR is 1310nm and the QSFP-40G-LR4 CWDM channels are 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm. Are the 1310nm and 3rd channel 1311nm technically compatible?

I have a 10Gb and (will eventually have) a 40Gb switch both fitted with basic LR (Q)SFP+ transceivers and want to know if I can directly connect them or will I have to use an adapter to fit an SFP+ in an QSFP+ port?

I'm looking at using the XQX2502 QSFP+.

EDIT: The goal of this exercise is I’m trying to work out if I can make an easily interoperable system where a singlemode fiber wall jack fed from a 40G switch can act as a both a 10G or 40G port as needed.

Alphacool only has plexi front. Is EK's nickel plating still iffy?
