Yes! You can tell by the use of exposed, "raw" (unpainted) concrete. However, I don't believe that brutalism was more popular east of the iron curtain than in the west -- there are examples all over the world, notably in London.

I'm trying to figure out the lyrics to that track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nDlzAicsOA

I can't understand these two lines:

  • At 1:05: If you're a big time ???. always a big ???
  • At 1:40: If your breath is ???, or you're on a long ???

What am I missing?

You need so search for it ([email protected]) on your instance (lenny.world). The search won't yield any results but will trigger a request to lemmy.ml and it should become accessible / appear in searches a moment later.

Very interesting! I'm not entirely sure what's the point of building that 3d model though..

Closer to home for me, but with the same idea of terraces and mixed-use development, there are the projects by Renée Gailhoustet and Jean Renaudié in Ivry-sur-Seine next to Paris.. not prefab (afaik) but built in an urban context and as social housing, which is also worth a look.

More info here. The project is a bit too "interiory" / designed for me, but I think the layout with the different thermal zones is very interesting (and could also work with individual bedrooms, instead of the more radical layout they have here). And the dark cork is nice!

I'll try to post a reference every evening or so, to get the community started, but please let me know if that's too much!
