@igorlogius too much stuff, and it also interferes with what i'm developing. My addons will force: dark mode, select anything, allow right click, allow scroll anywhere, click through overlays to examine images, etc. My addons are basically completely destroying websites to enable me to browse easier, but it's not an accurate representation when I'm trying to make a website. I've often thought my site looks one way when it's actually my addons modifying it, then I open it on chrome or some sandbox and it's a mess of mismatched colors and misunderstandings. Additionally, I have at least 4 addons that inject classnames into what i'm coding (bitwarden, hive keychain, metamask, near meteor), so html is basically unreadable for chatgpt when i feed it html to examine. I also have a bunch of useless crap that injects user agents or disables certain kinds of overlays that would block navigation.

overall it's just a ton of crap that i use for everyday browsing, but is completely counterproductive when coding.

@guy Nice. I didn't know this exists. Will definitely give it a try.

As I mentioned in another profiles suggestion, I'll consider it, but it's regretful if this is the only option because I use history/bookmarks/cache heavily and it's simply crippling to lose access to them just cuz firefox doesn't allow Ctrl+F/Scripting for bulk addon management.

I am in a bit of a pickle. I'm a developer, and I also use some crypto social media, and I also like downloading media sometimes, I do a lot of stuff. I modify CSS, I script & hack the web, yadda yadda. Basically what this means is I ended up with like 50 addons I juggle-enable-disable all the time. This is extremely frustrating without some kind of grouping them, or at the very least searching only among my installed addons to enable/disable.

Do you guys have any idea if a tool or method exists to solve this problem?

1 - jwt is the authentication cookie u get when u sign in with ur password, ur browser stores the jwt and then any further interaction authenticates using it

2 - yes, userscripts, extensions, custom frontends, apps, all apps have access to jwt

@GizmoLion lol, just a perspective from a dev who has loved a few projects for years, and abandoned a few others because holy shit they're just not worth my time

i can see this happening in kbin & lemmy app-world where everyone picks "Ammenides for the Kbemmyverse" and the guy who puts 14 hours a day obsessively into "Omonaia for Cute Kbin" sees just like 3 users who decide to demand loli features and you don't like lolis but you entertain them bc they're your only users but after months of being annoyed by these fuckers you just press alt f4 one day and realize you're being unhappy for a community that's as alien to you as a "caress homeless people when you pass by" hobby club, and decide that enough is enough, and go raise tortoises in a Caribbean island cuz that's all you've always wanted to do but couldn't because you were making loli stickers for a bunch o lolicons cuz you wanted just a tiny bit more attention that you couldn't get in real life due to being isolated in your room 24/7, therefore becoming hostage to your own seclusion-caused feedback loop of depression, loneliness and low self-esteem.

yes, i find suspiciously-specific incoherence funny

Where to find a list of instances kbin federates and defederated? I wanna see if I can access some instances.

On that note, I'd also like to know how to add remote communities that are currently 404 due to not being federated yet

@Cloudless only if the browser takes userscripts, there's a few that do. I use Kiwi Browser so I'll just tell you how to do it there. You have to download the script with the name ending in .user.js and go to extensions click the button import and select it. And that's it, it works like an extension. I don't know if the script looks good on android cuz i haven't tested it tho but i have tested many other userscripts.

@GizmoLion well some app devs are gonna get bored for sure so we'll see which ones grab a decent userbase and which ones disrupt the dev's life so much that after all that time spent they quit being devs and join a lumberjack's guild nearby to dedicate their lives to deforestation

No clue what any other kbins are doing

unified frontend software, they're all doing the same thing afaik

You're not wrong. The problem is that these links only work on Lemmy.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

are these apps?

I just noticed that

  1. people don't read my comments as much here as on Lemmy so I get way fewer replies
  2. someone replied to me and I didn't see it in my notifications, even after tapping Notifications, so I had to go to the thread where he replied to me, check out all my 10+ comments, and see that one of them had a reply. I saw no other way to find this.
