@not_that_guy05 No. Lemmy is not owned by any corporation or any one person. All that federation or defederation means is whether an instance connects to another.
@billiam0202 I’m sorry, what I meant was the integration that Threads has with Insta users (ability to migrate Insta acct to Threads and not a users FB account). You are correct though, Zuck is definitely looking to take Twitter users from Elon.
@Squiglet Neither have I until now😂. Was a redditor for 10 years until the API change and never could get into Twitter.
I’m assuming the @ from Mastodon is just because it’s the default way for it to display in posts. Lemmy uses the @ for replies but doesn’t display it in the comment.
@Squiglet @Xylight Pretty much, although you’ll want to differentiate between @[email protected] and other instances (i.e. @[email protected])
@ThatGirlKylie No, you aren't signed up for it automatically, nor do you have to opt out if you have a Facebook account. This is aimed at Instagram users.
@niszogen All I have to do is know which instance, the community is that I want to follow, is on. For example @[email protected] was the first option that came up when I typed Aww into my Explore tab on Mastodon but I could also follow @[email protected] if I wanted to.
@niszogen IDK if I’d consider it just a Twitter alternative. From Mastodon I can follow any Lemmy communities on federated servers and see the same posts that I can see in my WefWef app on my @[email protected] account.
@DuskLoaf Just started using Ice Cubes for Mastodon (for this reply) but also using WefWef and Mlem.
