The screen can get pretty bright, but I also use a matte screen protector which helps a lot with reflections and glare when it's sunny.

Oh man, I forgot that even existed! I used an app for it for quite a while, I didn't realise how long it must have been since I used it
This is one of those situations where the best course of action is to support those apps which do exist - either by contributing code yourself, submitting bug reports and suggestions, or potentially with monetary donations if that's possible for you.
The open source community can only be as good as those that contribute towards it.
For me, it's using emulation. I'm currently playing Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door from the GameCube, and there are very few android games that can match the quality of older AAA titles.
Plus, no microtransactions!
There's also the concept of informed risk, which relates to informed consent, and this can be a big issue.
For example, if I ask a friend to come for a drive with me, they'll likely say "yes" on the assumption that the car is road safe and I have passed my driving test. But if I wait until we're already on the road to tell them that the fuel line sprays petrol into the footwell and the engine constantly misfires, then they agreed without understanding the full risks, and might have decided differently if they had all the info ahead of time.
I think any "reasonable person" would refuse to enter that sub if they were given a full understanding of the risks posed, and their likelihood.
I was willing to pay infinty a subscription in order to keep using reddit, but Lemmy is actually far better than I expected, so I'm just not going back to reddit now!
I remember loving Red Faction on the PlayStation - I can't imagine how it must have played on an Ngage!
Yeah, hopefully as people become more familiar with the ethos here, incidents like that will decline!
I'm going cold turkey on Reddit for exactly this reason. I realised that if I allowed myself to use Reddit if I couldn't find the content I want elsewhere, then I'll never actually leave it.
Instead I'm trying to now use Lemmy to find the communities that I'm interested it, and to make the content that I'd like to see.
This is awesome! I used Skyline for a while to play 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World', so I'm really looking forward to seeing what Yuzu might allow me to do!
Wherever possible buy outright, it is always cheaper. If needed, get a 0% interest credit card and use that to buy it outright. Do not fall into their trap of paying hundreds more for convenience and interest, all while never actually owning the device.
