you're right, i was just oblivious to it until the blackout showed me how much i rely on reddit to get any useful search results..

I hope we're also on the cusp of a new era of search.. not sure how that would look like but I envision with SEO-optimized AI-generated articles (esp. all those top 10 articles which is so easy to generate with AI), Google is only going to continue going downhill spammed with fake content.

also reddit's own search kind of sucks, so Google is basically a glorified reddit search engine for me half the time.

It'd be such sweet justice if third party reddit app developers migrated to Lemmy, and that's what really kills off reddit for good.

That aside I've been using jerboa, but also Lemmy itself is a PWA (in chrome you can "Install" Lemmy as a dedicated web app from three point menu) which works good as well.

I also came here from suggestions on reddit. I don't think it's hard to find for anyone sincerely looking for an alternative.

Couldn't they have integrated ads as posts, then it'd show on any third part app. And I saw other ideas floating around about making third party app access a feature behind Reddit Premium. So many alternatives and they choose the most idiotic one

These are great, pls forward this to Ferboa devs! It's open source so maybe you can submit this to merge into the app?

Reddit is still a useful resource for me (most of my googling is with "reddit" appended to get actual answers vs. clickbait for ads). But for casual browsing I'm making a conscious effort to stick to Lemmy/Kbin as much as I can. And it'll only get easier with time as more quality content comes on the platform!

+1... I'd wager that a significant portion of that 0.2% (if indeed the number) is the most active / dedicated reddit users (power users). It's the mods, active posters, etc that are creating and fostering content on the whole site. The rest of the lurkers won't stay if there's nothing engaging being posted or if the subs are an unmodded mess.

does it work for you outside of the app? like if you are casting to for example a google nest hub, and on your phone try to change the nest hub's volume while browsing other stuff.

Curious why but another phone (which would be on Android 13 or older) vs downgrading P7Pro back to Android 13?

Pixel 7 user here, battery could be better but that's about it - super satisfied otherwise. Also have the pixel buds pro, and use a Mac + iPad (although I'd take a look at the pixel tablet if I didn't). Super satisfied!

Used to use Samsung Galaxy S22, and there's a lot of small software features missing there which added up. Ex: volume control for cast device did not work on samsung (had to control volume manually from the app rather than volume buttons). All the calling features (call screen, hold for me, etc), astrophotography, slow camera shutter speed (on default settings), and general UI/UX I prefer on Pixel over Samsung.

Another thing I noticed is the filters don't seem to do much? Like Active vs Hot vs Top (especially Top/Hot just shows posts with no interaction).
