From my observation the “load more” type of wall is more prevalent for scientific journals than the typical news sites. Not sure why.

is VPN prohibition a general condition of these situations or was this specific to this case? And can you clarify why using VPN violations? Sorry I’m daft on the legalities of this.

I’m confused. What is the connection between using a VPN and witness tampering? Anyone care to explain?

gotcha, havent use whatsapp for a while. Good to know. Even with e2ee enabled, what types of data are still known by FB/meta? Like social graphs and such?

Miracle Workers, Warrior, Afterparty, Only Murder in the Building.

I think it’s worth doing. One thing about whatsapp is that you can turn on e2ee, if you haven’t, for those who choose not to switch with you but you still want contact with.

Except for signal, matrix is also decentralized. I understand what you meant tho. I think matrix still stores user data on servers, but they could be encrypted. Others who know please correct me.

they were considering other possibilities. You know, giants picking up cars and ramming them into houses is a rising issue.

maybe a tangential implementation is “Jury Duty”

darn, this is kinda sad. This is like research on existing works, rather than generating new ones and potentially exploiting them without attribution. It’s like another way of consuming and interpreting the content, much like how we read/watch books/movies and interpret them. We really are moving too quickly and it’s hard to have these conversations in a meaningful way.

Reuters reported in 2022, however, that some cities are beginning to rethink bans on face recognition as a crime-fighting tool amid "a surge in crime and increased lobbying from developers."

Sounds to me like there’s a deeper issue here in these cities (probably society in general) that needs to be tackled at its root why people are turning to crime. Is it because they couldn’t find reliable jobs to support themselves and their families? Is it related to drug abuse issues that might be rooted in or coupled with mental health issues?

If these hold some truth, then cities need to take a look at them much closely, invest in the people and organizations that can help solve them, rather than overly investing in technologies and enforcement that not only do not solve them, but may even further exacerbate these systemic issues.
