Would be amusing if someone drove that somewhere with per-axle tolling.
Yeah, people often cite GIMP as a Photoshop replacement, and it's one of those tools that I really want to like but the UX is just...not great.
Two other "easy" bits for Japanese:
- Verbs don't conjugate based on subject or plurality, which is kind of nice coming from more European languages where you have to deal with that
- Only two irregular verbs in the entire language
That's definitely on my Lemmy wishlist -- some way to create merged communities. As it is now, there's too much potential for fragmentation across instances.
As of now, I just subscribe to whichever instance's community is the most active / has the most subscribers, which feels sub-optimal.
Love the ridiculous attention to detail on the official Apple apps in the pre-iOS7 days. The only downside was that most non-Apple apps looked pretty awful, if I remember correctly.
Ah, Winterboard, that's what the theming utility was called! Don't remember the website though.
Seems to be working; searched for OldiOS via on lemmy.ml and it came right up: https://lemmy.ml/c/[email protected]
Yes! The most expensive app on the App Store!
I remember if you had a jailbroken phone, you could install a fake version of the app that looked the same via Cydia. I think it was called "I am rich?" (note the question mark).
I think the problem is that you have to have at least some understanding of how the federation aspect functions to make sense of Lemmy. I'd love to contribute to their UX, there's a lot of room for improvement IMO.
Nice! Typewriters are a really fun way to focus on writing, and they can be really cheap if you find one at a thrift store.
Edit: if I’m being honest, I thought Community was a dumb name too.
Fun fact: Reddit officially called Subreddits "Communities" for years, so the term isn't necessarily unprecedented.
Exactly -- this is almost certainly bad for Reddit's business at this point. The problem here isn't necessarily capitalism so much as it is a egocentric CEO gone mad with power.
