I'm pretty sure forming groups is just about the first principle of human behavior. You can't really get around that.
Consequently, any political system which doesn't recognize groups/parties as the fundamental unit of political agency, and the individuals who exercise political power as mere representatives of their group, is going to have a bad time. I guess this is an argument in favor of parliamentary systems.
No one is obligated to patronize any business or artist (generally speaking). Obligation isn't the issue. But it sounds like, yes, you choose not support/patronize artists who have certain opinions you disapprove of.
I've seen this sentiment floating around the Internet sometimes, and it always strikes me as very limiting.

I feel for this guy having to make a living with the meager pay of a barista, but setting the minimum wage to a livable level and pegging it to inflation is a much better solution.
