Nice read. I did similar hacks in the past but I have less time lately.

Pipewire fixed some Bluetooth issues for me.

I don't agree with your juice example. I also notice the lower quality in some products but it's driven by consumers. Every time you go to a discount store or buy the cheapest products, you are telling the companies to replace premium products with lower quaity. If there is demand for high quality juices Cocacola or another company will start selling it at a premium price for sure.

You should open a PR. 🙂

I agree, those countries have internal problems. Said that, when they talk about democracy most of the time they are talking about freedom of speech and clean elections. When you have millions of people complaining and political parties that want the independence it proves there is a lot of freedom.

I have quite a large collection of photographs from my travels (about 50,000). My photos are correctly labeled with date and geo location. The functions I find most useful are sorting the photos by date, facial recognition, map with geo location.

I would like to know which programs are the best to manage this kind of collection.

I don't save all my documents. Just my self-hosting, servers infraestructure notes. I don't want to have the recovery intructions in the same machine I'm recovering

The only thing I save in Google Drive are my notes just in case of disaster.

Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, and TomTom have formed a group that will release data that could enable companies to build their own maps. The Overture Maps Foundation has captured 59 million points of interest, including restaurants, landmarks, streets, and regional borders. The data can be used for free as the base layer for a new map application. The data was collected and donated to the foundation by Meta and Microsoft.

There are more efficient formats like JPEG-XL, HEIF and WebP. If you convert the RAW -> JPEG -> WebP you are losing more quality. I think iPhone uses HEIF format.

Do you know similar apps?

I have a low power NAS (~35W) and I want to buy an UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to keep things running. The problem is most UPS for well known brands have an idle power usage (even without load) greater than 20W. It's comprable with the NAS + HDDs + Network equipment....

Do you know any alternative? UPS battery for 10 minutes will be enough. UPS load could be very low < 50 W. UPS software is optional.

I like to sort comments by top votes but I have to do it for every post. Is it possible to retain that configuration?

I can share the link of a post like https://lemmy.world/post/58535 but if I change the domain to lemmy.ml it links to a different post.

I understand that the post Id is local but, is there a way to generate a global link that contains the information about the server, community and post?

I think it will be useful to make mirror sites, index in Google, addons to redirect to your Lemmy server...
