Welcome! You’re in good company. Hockey is over. NBA is over. I need me some football!

Honestly not sure, but this is the logo on the hoodie they just got, and which came with the comment “my favorite anime”

Pixelfed aligns with the fediverse mentality that reduces the risk of losing all the content because one server went down.

I wasn’t addressing compute, but on that topic, the work has to be done somewhere. Why not spread it out?

Immich is rapidly growing into the closest solution for replacing google photos. It’s not fully there yet, but there is very active development going on and it’s advancing quickly.

I like this approach because it doesn’t require someone to stand up a database to read it. I have this worry in my head that I’ll be gone for some reason and my family will need to figure things out. Them not having to deal with a database right from the beginning seems very worthwhile.

Secrets etc in 1Password, for reasons similar to above even though it doesn’t fit the self-hosted mindset.

In general I’m just a fan of watching that kind of data and having a localized version of it. I’ve lived in areas with tornados where it can be helpful to alert on large drops in pressure or the presence of lighting. We’ve moved recently and don’t have a weather station here, and figured it was worth seeing if I could find something compatible with homekit that could open up opportunities for automation.
