Anyone have hands on experience with a reputable weather station? I’ve used Ambient Weather hardware in the past but wonder if there’s something similar that would be available in HomeKit.

No experience. But you should look into Netatmo. They have a Weather Station and optional wind and/or rain gauge that’s compatible with Homekit. Not sure if the representation of the info in Homekit is clearer than the dedicated Netatmo app, but it’s compatible.

I’ve Tempest station. Doesn’t support HomeKit, so I have to send data to a weather service and I’ve a homebridge plugin that pulls my station data from that service and loads into HomeKit. A bit convoluted, but works well.

The Eve Weather is one option.

Serious question: is a weather station just for convenience of information or have you found a way (or planning for a way) to integrate it in other parts of your home automation? I keep thinking about one but not sure how useful it would be for my setting. Thanks in advance!

In general I’m just a fan of watching that kind of data and having a localized version of it. I’ve lived in areas with tornados where it can be helpful to alert on large drops in pressure or the presence of lighting. We’ve moved recently and don’t have a weather station here, and figured it was worth seeing if I could find something compatible with homekit that could open up opportunities for automation.
