Management found out about organizing before we filed for an election

I won't name the company, but I'll say their outgoing CEO has been in the news quite a bit lying his billionaire mouth off to the Senate about union busting.

I was on the organizing committee and literally two days before we were going to file I was "separated". Since we hadn't filed yet, I wasnt protected.

I'm waiting for my final pay as well as a my 401k contributions to show up in snail mail while I figure out what I'm going to do.

In the meantime, I'm struggling bad. I got bills that need to be paid and food that needs to be bought. I take care of a family member who is in disability and cannot work.

Posting on Lemmy is my last resort, I've had no luck on mutual aid groups on Reddit or elsewhere. I can pay it back or forward when my check arrives.

Anything helps. Venmo is @crass-bolton

War is bad. That's not a controversial opinion. Where the libs seems to lose their minds is that you can be against the escalation of war that is having a net negative effect on the working class of both nations. That start with ending the shipment of weapins of war to the conflict.

Kiev wasted NO time outlawing every remotely left wing party in the country. Fascist paramilitaries have been disappearing members of these parties left and right, labeling them all pro-russian.

Not when everything is so infested with neoliberal ideology that nothing can be understood outside of atomized so called rational actors existing in a market.

Just look at the way western media uses the word "violence." Broken windows? Violence. Peaceful protest outside the homes of unreachable un-elected judges? Violence. Homelessness? Lack of healthcare? Redlining? Oh well, that's just the way things are.

Hello, used Reddit for a while, but with the API change and shit user experience on the app I jumped ship as soon as I found out about Lemmy.

I have some experience in workplace and tenant organizing. Im actually unemployed currently bc of said organizing, but managed to build up a good savings.

I've considered myself a socialist since my late teens. Went through a lengthy anarchist phase, and still happily work with principled anarchist organizations. But I'd say over the past ten years or so of really reading Marx, Lenin, Luxemburg and even Mao my political development has sort of matured. I definitely credit Michael Parenti and even some of Zizek's work specifically on ideology with shocking any remaining liberal sentimentality out of me.

Anyway, happy to be a part of the community.
