As others mentioned already, they definitely won't be gone by the end of winter. Your lawn probably will be though, because if you have heavy leaf fall it'll smother the grass.
Maybe it'd be better if we all just let things happen and let native plants run wild, but culturally we aren't there yet.

Yes exactly. Whichever party has a stranglehold in a given state/county/whatever will object because ranked choice voting has the potential to allow previously marginal (or zero chance) candidates to be elected.
Democrats are not inherently more fair-minded than conservatives. Both parties' (all parties, actually) first priority is to maintain power. Everything else is secondary to that.
They throw it in from the sides with their hands, and it's better to be able to throw it hard and accurately when you do that.

I live 11 miles from work and it takes me 30-40 min to drive in. 50 miles could be 90-120 min easy.
