My theory is sound. I just ran out of hope that we can do anything but brace for impact. This has affected how I go about acting and organizing, hence the self-applied "post" label. But I know what you mean.
You know what else changed? On-the-job training is now practically unheard of. The kind where the company invests in employees and their development.
Plus, try telling gay boomers, POC, women, people with mental and emotional issues, etc that they had it easier.
Doesn't making necessities unaffordable affect all working class populations?
I get what you're saying, and agree in part, but depending on where you are in the US, a lot of the progress has really only been superficial - and over the same time working class purchasing power decreased and social safety nets decreased.
Economics is an easy point of intersectionality for the working class, because it hurts us all. We can unite around that instead of dividing ourselves from it. It even hits the boomers, and I think we're all aware that many of them are already skating on thin ice in retirement.
There are no 'easy times' for some groups of people (and they deserve our utmost empathy) but I can't help but see it like this: Throw in a minority identity, or a neurodivergency, or anything else that already makes life hard on top of this late stage capitalist economy, and 2020s are right out of a dystopian novel. At least in my opinion.
It’s sad, but imo the reddit as we knew it is dead, and it’s time to accept that and move on.
I'd pour one out for dear old reddit, but I'm already moved on.
I'm not sure. I stopped following it awhile ago, over half of the comments in some of the posts were brigaders.
And the way it handled the “edit to remove recovery” was to edit your post and put some text along those lines with a link to the greasemonkey script.
Oh I see, thanks for explaining!
with admins threatening mods & threatening to ban entire subs if they didn’t delete Nazi-punching posts fast enough.
Oh hey there, beholdthemasterrace subscriber! That poor mod.
I swear to a god I don't believe in, Aaron was the only one of them that was ever competent.
A software company that can't even automate their processes. I would love to have a peek at what projects all of the devs are assigned to. Reddit employs something like 1200 people! And yet somehow there hasn't been a proper value add to the platform in like a decade. It sounds like now they're getting caught with their pants down on data privacy without proper processes in place for an influx of requests. Call me crazy, but if I were a social media platform I think I would put privacy legislation right at the top of the risk management priority list.
those recovered to the “Deleted: Click here to know more” version.
I'm not familiar with this - what are you referring to? (It may not display the same on my UI.)
this may be a side effect of how the subreddits were reopened and possibly had their terabytes of John Oliver Hentai removed.
I did wonder about this. I wiped my account before the protests picked up and it is unaffected. But a few comments seem to express that some of their older content was restored. I hope we learn more about what happened here.
This DOES highlight questions as to whether doing the edit before the delete even matters though, since these are the pre-edit comments.
A little worrisome, isn't it? But also entirely expected. What a dystopia we live in.
Also, it looks like reddit has been restoring posts deleted by that. Even with edit comments.
Craziness. I'm a long time PDS user and I've never had an issue with it or with my deleted comments getting rez'd. The boat must actually be sinking if they're resorting to these kinds of desperate actions.
