Lol, I have a Tesla and enjoy Google and all(most) of the their products. Lemmy is unhinged about these things.

A quick Google search shows that 28 CFR 29.1 is regulations for the "Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Act" which allows the attorney general to implement a program where people can put a sticker on their car which means cops can then stop and verify that they're the vehicle owners.

That doesn't mean license plates are optional. Normally I just smirk and move on feeling superior, however they rarely cite something as easy to Google as the CFR.

They installed it for us at work as part of a project, and we went to ask the ansible guy wtf we could use it for in a windows world, and he couldn't articulate how it would be an improvement in any way over a scheduled task.

Anti cheat is whatever, it's adding a gigantic target for malware. Privacy is great, but it's literally just adding an attack vector.
