I saw this image the other day and thought I'd save it for confused reddit refugees hehe

This is amazing, sending this to my less tech savvy friends!

Hi Frens,

Just like most people I've been playing around with different apps for Lemmy. However, a function I haven't seen around yet, is a slideshow mode.

BaconReader, an app for The Website That Shall Not Be Named, had the ability to open a post and start swiping left / right to scroll through your frontpage. Scrolling down is where the comments and voting arrows were. This was the only way for me to use my phone on bad hand function days / disability flare up days because it only required one hand motion (swiping) instead of opening, scrolling, clicking, going back, scroll, clock again, repeat.

Is there any dev out there who would be willing to implement such feature? Or did I somehow miss am already existing android app that has this functionality?

I've heard a lot of people benefit from "body doubling": a YouTube video where another person is also doing the thing you need to do. Like studying or cleaning.

Should pop up if you search for "body doubling study" or something.

I think it would be useful to you to release a very early beta for 2 reasons:

  • apps are popping up left and right, I think some users may pick one and stay on that app after having tested all that are out
  • you can get early feedback on what people would like to see but also bugs and glitches they may encounter on different devices / instances

I think this would be too niche and also too expensive (I believe e-ink is expensive?) but I would also love this!

As soon as I put my ereader down for a quick look at my phone I'm on another device so I kinda forget to pick up my Ereader again. So yeah I'd love to see that.

The users seem less hostile here overall and I feel like I wanna engage again by either posting or commenting because it doesn't seem to get lost. The other website might have become too big, it was either going "viral" or being ignored, no middle ground.

Spiritfarer. I needed a good distraction after my dad passed away, but I put it off for a year because I was afraid my grief would still be too raw at the time.

Then the grief grabbed me by the throat when playing the game where you need to help a frog pass over after death because he couldn't let go of his wife and daughter for whom he DIY's a lot. It was as if my very own father was imported in the game. I've never sobbed this much in my life over a videogame and it truly helped me process things so much better. So many valuable lessons to be learned from that game.

Edit: I ended up breaking the game by putting off the final quests of the frog character which is ironic because I needed to let him go, but couldn't.
